Made in Adobe Photoshop 7.0, use of selective color and hue/saturation layers involved.
I used
this pic.
Step 1.
Crop and resize your picture. Sharpen once.
Step 2.
Go to Layer --> New Adjustment Layer --> Selective Color. Use the following settings:
Red: -100/+12/-22/+27
Yellow: +100/-9/-29/-55
Neutral: -18/+16/0/+39
And set it to Hard Light 50%.
Step 3:
Go to Layer --> New Adjustment Layer --> Hue Saturation. Use the following settings:
Hue: 0
Saturation: +98
Lightness: +10
And set it to Screen 50%.
Step 4:
Add a new layer and floodfill it with #020254 and set it to Overlay 50%.
Step 5:
Add a new layer and floodfill it with #FDC6FF and set it to Color Burn 50%.
Step 5:
Copy/paste this gradient on your picture and set it to Color Burn 50%.
Step 6:
Go to Layer --> New Adjustment Layer --> Selective Color. Use the following settings:
Yellow: 0/0/-50/0
If you like your icon right now you can stop here. Otherwise follow the 2 last steps!
Step 7:
Duplicate your base layer and drag it to the top. Set it to color 100%.
Step 8:
Add this brush.
And your done!
