Evaluations

So I got the evaluations back. I have to say I'm pretty happy with them. COnsidering this is the first time I've taught a class, the students seem to be doing okay.

Most of the comments were positive. Some said my explanations are good and easy to understand, I am attentive and patient, and have a good relationship with the class. SO I'm very pleased.

There were also some negative comments, of course, but nothing too ego-shattering. ;) Mostly they complained that I speak English too much (they are beginners, so sometimes they have trouble understanding), and that there weren't enough exercises for the test. I have to agree on these two points, and I hope to improve on that. I've been giving them more exercises already, and now I'll be more conscientious about the English issue. ;)

Only one student said she couldn't find any positive aspects. :( If that had been the only review, I would have been crushed, but as it was the only truly negative one, I guess perhaps it's more that my methods don't please her in particular than they suck completely. At least I hope so.

All in all, I guess I'm doing well. It's only my first semester, after all, I can hardly be expected to be a great teacher already.

And thank god the semester is almost over. Just two more weeks. Hallelujah. :)
