So I've been in this hospital for several days. I had surgery, so I don't have a tumor in my stomach anymore. I was really afraid at first, but being surrounded by my friends and family reassured me that everything would be okay. I love you guys.
Next to my room here, there's a little girl named Samantha. She's 9 years old. She's suffering from 3rd degree burns on her back. She was in a car accident with her parents. But neither of her parents came out alive. I'm surprised that she survived. So Samantha has no family, no siblings. Once she's ready to be taken out of the hospital, they're going to put her in a foster home.
Over the course of my stay here, Samantha and I have become very close. She is the most adorable girl I've ever met. Every morning, she comes into my room and wakes me up.. she sits next to me on my bed and looks at me and smiles. She says, "Ana.. come play with me. Ana, wake up sleepy head!" And every morning, we eat breakfast together, and then we play games. It's been great having her here. She's restored my faith in people, and made me less afraid about my new condition. I always have the nurse get her apple juice, because it's her favorite. And every night, we watch movies in my room.
The hospital staff has been more than generous to Samantha and I during our stay. I'm going to write them all a big thank you note for their hospitality before I leave.
My test results are in. In fact, the cancer hasn't spread. This is an extremely good thing, mind you. But, to be safe, I'm asked to check in with a Cancer Specialist every two weeks.
Tomorrow I'm leaving. A Static Lullaby.. they're going to drop by the hospital tomorrow night and get me. I guess I'm going back on tour with them. Once we reach New York, I'm off. I have to get back to work, and get ready for my upcoming shows.
Dan, Phil, Joe, Brett, and Nate (ASL) have all been so kind. I love all of you, and I cannot thank you enough. I am truly blessed to have friends like you.
So, Samantha is waiting for me. I told her I had some things to take care of on my laptop, so she's sitting in a chair at the foot of my bed watching cartoons. I'm going to bring her to the cafeteria for breakfast now. Goodbye everyone, and you'll be hearing from me again soon :)
