OMG I hated it!! I did it for 5 years or more and knew I was not spitting it all out. I went thru a rehab treatment for lortab addiction in July last year. Just a rapid detox but stayed a day or two at this nice retreat where I had a personal chef and such. They didn't want me eating much at first b/c of the anesthesia. So these gourmet chefs made very small portions and I ate a bit of them I realized at that point. Ok I can just eat a bit of food at a time. And when I came home I just stopped. Plain as day. It was the worst habit I EVER had. I would buy 5 candy bars at a time. I realized it was me dealing with stress. I started listening to my body more. Just eating tiny amounts of food. I was getting MAJOR calories in this way hun. When I stopped... no joke I lost 12 pounds or more in 2 weeks!! Thats how much I was chewing and spitting. Everything. Bad stuff too. All the time. God I don't even want to know how much I was really taking in. I have this great article copied from an ED book that helped me. I will post it on my journal or I can email it to you.
I know for sure it was an OCD thing of mine. Like I HAD TO. hungry or not. Its so worth stopping and I know how hard it is to stop. But it does make you gain weight, at least me.
Good luck hun. I will post that now on my journal.
