Ok, so I've been going to SCA events in my area for 17 years or so. First off, I've never seen anything for the little babies on merchant's row.
Second, I always see parents with strollers, or carrying around little ones in car seats or bjorn/snugli carriers - but none of these are very accommodating to the medieval theme, car seats get heavy after awhile and strollers don't do so good over grass and mud. Not to mention carrying them around can really wear a parent's arms out fast.
I'm starting up my own home based baby wrap business, selling wraps like these:
http://www.slingzilla.com/Shop/Babylonia/files/BBslen-SS_detail_1.png (these are just a few of the 15 different color/pattern varieties I would be carrying).
Do you think there would be much of a market for these at events? These wraps are all 100% cotton, hand made, and come in lengths of 2.7 meters, 3.9 meters, 4.6 meters, 4.9 meters and 5.9 meters, all perfect for various baby carries.
These wraps also have other uses - tablecloths, curtains, fabric to make clothing, dresses, blankets, shawls, carrying stuff other than babies, dog leashes, horse harnesses, I have a list of more than 40 uses for these.
I would be handing out printed instruction booklets, safety booklets and the information sheet on other uses along with actually instructing people on how to use these carriers with each sale.
I'm also interested in offering other baby/young child type stuff as well, so product suggestions are welcomed!
