a note on Meg

I think part of the reason I couldn't really get behind Guy/Meg romantically (ignoring all of the Marian & personal baggage, which is the real reason) is because she is so young. Someone, either endcredits or corrielle, likened Meg's interest in Guy to a first crush, and that kind of nailed it for me. She has been wonderful for him, but I really don't think she'd be ready to take on such a dark and complicated person. I do think Guy needs someone sweet and honest and generous, but at this point I'm not convinced Meg could be that person, at least at this point in her life. She would need to accept Guy for what he is knowing what that is, not just because she's a good person (and he's hot).

This is not to diminish their interaction at all, because I think those scenes were far and away the best of S3.

Also, I suspect Meg wouldn't have been as hard-hit by the Sheriff & Guy's heavy-handedness. She's a young girl of some wealth, so I imagine she would be sheltered by a lot from her parents. Without being directly affected by the taxation, random cutting off of tongues, etc., the rumor of Guy's harshness was probably really attractive in the way that bad boys generally are to teenaged girls.
