This is also on my main subscription blog on another site. No, I'm not linking them up for reviewing food boxes. Though, that one has the pictures along with the text. Yeah, I'm lazy that way. Two blogs with the same thing. But, this one here is for food thoughts and such right now. I know it has changed over the years, but it still is an insight into me that is fun. So, here goes nothing.
This is a new company and their FIRST box. It comes out from California and goes through USPS. Now, normally, I have no problem with them, but seriously, I think someone in Texas saw the box and really wanted to take it for keeps. Yeah, it stayed there a few days, when the weather was all nice and good out here, and made it up today. I must admit that they did a great job packing it and, if not for said extra wait, would have had all the items JUST FINE. Grrr, USPS. Had to wait until it got back into the 90's out here, didn't you. At least my mailperson hand delivered the box to the door. She's really good that way if something says needs to be in the shade, she'll get it to the person as best as possible.
And inside the front box was the inner box. This box was so tightly fit that I actually had to tear apart the Priority box to get into it. I've never had to before for a box of any kind. So cool. And it's a medium box that they used. I do like the orange print on the boxes. It's not that glaring orange, but a calm one that works nicely with the cardboard brown.
On the top are three important cards. One is a postcard with a code for money off the first order made. You want it, let me know. That's the cool orange one. Under that is the ingredient list of all the items inside. This way, you can check to make sure that there are no allergies before the drooling starts. Yeah, sure, like there wasn't drooling as soon as the first box was opened. There was yummy sweets inside. The third is a description sheet about the foods and the companies. It gives you a good by date also, so that you can eat the stuff that will go soonest first.
Inside the grey bubble wrap are two ice packs with the remaining items. It gave up the cool by the time I got to it, but not by very long. Less than a day, I'd say. So, yeah, that's why I made the comment above. The rest of the items were well packed. The cat has a tiny bit of packing to play with since she loves when I get paper shreds.
Brownie-
Fat Witch BakeryYeah, I saw this and it was the first thing I had to eat. I guess I should add that I had a cold glass of milk that needed to be drank since there wasn't room for the rest of the gallon in the fridge. This was the perfect compliment. The youngest girl tried a bit of it and said it tasted just like my homemade brownies, which I rarely make of course, do. So, it passed that. There was no top crust on it, it was pure cake brownie. I really get irritated when I get that crust on top after all I've done to avoid it. I do plan on ordering from there in the future.
Complete Peanutbutterness-
Yummes Oh, I am looking forward to eating this tomorrow. I ended up putting this in the fridge, since the chocolate on it was starting to melt onto the wrapper. It's a sad thing, but that's just how it worked out. That was one of the two items that got affected by the weather. But, it's a peanut butter sandwich cookie with peanut butter cream in the middle and the drizzle of chocolate on the outside. This is pure heaven. I'll review it later by itself.
Original S'more Bites-
Sweet Lydia's These are a cute idea. Really, they are. It's a chocolate covered graham cracker and marshmallow with sprinkles on top. I could see myself eating them in the middle of the winter, but right now, not so much. The graham was a little mushy, which is not something I associate with s'mores. Other than that, it was pretty much the right consistency. I know I'll finish these in the next couple of days. I think I'll even save one for one of the ladies at work. I did promise to bring some of it in for her.
Alice's Stick Cookies in Vanilla-
Alice's Stick CookiesI like the box. It is cool. It is very cool. Inside are three cookies. Two of them broke on the way to me. Sad. They remind me a bit, by look, of biscotti. I suppose that's where the stick comes in. I am looking forward to eating them. I think I'll share those too. But, seriously, the box is so cool. Does this make me silly to think that an interesting box can make up for the insides not being perfect?
Chocolate Bark-
The Secret ChocolatierThis one was melted when I got it. There are two different flavors. I do plan on eating the chocolate one for certain. The white chocolate one I am not so sure of. There could be the chance that someone else will beat me to eating it. But, I should add that this company is expensive to order from, so this just may end up being a guilty pleasure for me.
Handmade Button Pack-
Twenty PixelsAwww, I love buttons. And there are three cute ones. I'm putting them on my jacket as soon as I can. One's a donut even. The packaging states that these are special edition buttons for the box. Yeah, I'm keeping them.
So, I'm glad I got the box. I just hope that next month, USPS does not try to keep the box to them. So, that's it.
Oh yeah, while I was typing, the boy thought he'd tell me about the cat watching him and if she was "hunting wabbits". I said there was a chance because it has happened before. That got him started on the Looney Tunes' episode of Wat's Opera. Yeah, that's my family. He should be going to bed now since he has to get up so early in the morning for band practice.
