Changes (Part 2)

Continued from Part 1 -

There was one final, and most devastating event that happened in October.  On the 31st, my Grandma died.  She passed in her sleep, heart just gave out.  It was a nice, painless way to go and at least it happened like that.  I had problems the week I heard about it staying at work and such. She was my last living Grandma and in a lot of ways held my mom’s side of the family together.  Now that she’s gone I already see a rift forming in my family.

In going over the will, there have already been several fights that have occurred over who gets what.  Originally it sounded like Diane and Judy were going to give my mom the house…then changed their tune to be paid a third of the value each.  A few other things were also in question.  As my Grandma was somewhat of a moderate in our family, holding things together between the somewhat religious conflictions, political conflictions, and schedule conflictions, its hard to say how things will work out.  At least she got to see my place before she passed.

The funeral came out well.  There were bagpipes at the burial and many, many faces that I haven’t seen for ages.  We ate at the Water Street Brewery as an after-gathering.  I also ended up taking most of Jen’s stuff up to Green Bay w/ me as well.

The weekend following was the Rugby Banquet.  It was a decent time, but couldn’t have fallen at a worst point in my schedule (as I was rushing to get a flash project done).  The party was decent and I again don’t remember the ride home (but I do remember being back at the dorm).  The whole thing was a little underwhelming but at least Jen seemed to enjoy herself.  The next day was Thanksgiving at a rugby player’s house.  There I finally found out who Cheese was, and had to suppress the desire to confront him.  Its hard to say if I would have done anything…probably the thing holding me back the most on this was just that as a decent person I wouldn’t hurt another unless attacked first.

The next week was hell - I got about 3-5 hours of sleep every night until the projects were finished.  On a plus note, both turned out marginally well, I’m pretty sure I wound up with an A grade in both courses.  I also found out that I passed C++ test out exam.

Then the Wii came out, something I was waiting for a long time.  I liked the controls and on the first day I played plenty of Zelda (but aggravatingly reset the machine twice).  The Wii froze on the first day and since has gotten considerably worse - now it doesn’t turn on or work at all.  I think it’s a video card or processor problem but it’s definitely defective.  So I am again without the system, on a plus note at least Gamestop will be holding it for me when the next shipment arrives (for a swapout).

The week of freedom came and went really fast - I’m already back to classes again.  This quarter is going to be difficult.  On Monday and Tuesday I have Audio/Video Techniques and Animation I respectively.  Both classes are going to require a lot of hard work, and a final, massive project.  On the upside with the break and other things I’ll have a decent amount of time to work on it all.  I also have a motherfucking Saturday class, some bullshit one about portfolio design or teamwork or some crap.  I haven’t taken that yet but I’m admittedly not looking forward to it at all.

So that’s basically the long expanse of time in a nutshell.  A lot of things have gone on and theres plenty more lined up in the future.  Jen’s leaving in two months and is going nuts about that.  Christmas break is coming soon and I’m starting to look for a new job and new supplies for when I’m forced to live alone.
