So, somewhere in my "kinda-want-to-avoid-TH-for-awhile" reversion back to H/D fandom, I stumbled across a few journals of people who have happened to become Merlin/Arthur fans too. . . and found lots of really good Merlin fic...
I have quite a few tabs open, awaiting my reading pleasure, but I thought I'd rec while I was at it, since I know several

Magic & magical creatures that's already a part of canon adds so many fun possibilities for the canon-based, and even *more* for AUs :D
See, I like Tom/Georg or Bill/Gustav, but a lot of the G's I've seen written are utterly awful--I've found few that can do them justice *pouts* I prefer my twins AU/Non-related, because the last few straight up twincest ones I read literally made me feel sick and I couldn't finish them. One has to convince me that that relationship is viable, and so many just *don't*--or don't even *try* Kink fic? That's not even on my radar. . .

I LOVE to find a long juicy fic with lots of angst and characterization and plot. *swoons* There are definitely some good writers in the TH fandom for sure, but not nearly as many, and a good portion of them are on my flist! ;)
I can't get into the G's at ALL--especially Gustav. He does nothing for me. I've read a bit of Torg but the Biog really doesn't float my boat and I don't want anyone paired with Gus, poor guy, lol The twincest fic doesn't bother me--I've loved a ton of it, but after a few years I'm just bored with it. It was the same with Vigorli fic--as much as I loved the pairing, after awhile, it felt like EVERYTHING had been written. And then I read an Orlando/Other fic that was so amazing I lost all interest in Viggo! lol It was the last Vigorli fic I ever read. The same thing happened with me in X-Files fandom. I had been a HARDCORE Mulder/Scully shipper until I discovered slash. *gasp* A good friend of mine wrote me a Mulder/Other story that I fell in love with and it ruined me for M/S ever again!

Oddly enough, I've been enjoying the lil' <10,000 word one-shots I've been finding here lately... but yes, long, plotty (whether angsty or not)=soon *nods* And yes, there are definitely good TH writers (and yes, several of them are on my flist as well ;)), but I was referring more to random "Oh, let's try *this* one" kinda reads, which I've usually had better luck with in HP or Merlin fandom.
See, that's the problem--the G's have to be *well written* b/c there just isn't enough cliche about them to work well at that level, and few can pull it off. And yeah, it gets rather frustrating when it gets to be kinda formulaic, or like *yawn* seen that before, done better, by someone else **next**
I...don't actually remember the last time I actually *looked* for a het pairing. . . in fanfic anyway. . .

The last time I read anything close to het, it was when I beta'd for Tay's fic where the twins both turned into girls, lol It was HOT and I loved it. <3
yes I agree on the random find. For the longest time, I've only read trusted authors in TH fandom because I know the writing is quality, but for months I've not even done that. I feel kind of guilty but, there's not much you can do if you've lost interest in something.
I'm reading a hilarious H/D fic right now... http://community.livejournal.com/hd_holidays/33432.html
Arthur/Merlin, how did I not catch that? LOL *facepalm*

Don't believe I've read that one. . . though what boy characters do when they happen to have girly bits does tend to be enjoyable ;)
Know what you mean.
*clicks* Ohhh, she's normally an artist *scrolls* which is why it's illustrated, awesome! *puts it next in the cue* Yeah, if you haven't looked at the art rec yet, it's another one of hers, but A/M, and a more "finished" style, probably b/c it's more recent--so gorgeous *_*
*pets you* It's ok bb :) Oddly enough, I don't see a lot of abbreviating with Arthur/Merlin. . . there *aren't* a whole lot of acronyms for once O.o
