So, sarahsan  made a "rec me music!!!" post awhile ago, and brought to mind some of my favorite songs by 90s-ish bands, so I thought I'd post, 'cause I wanted to give her links & knew I'd be way too long-winded for a coment, and see if anyone else had recs, or songs by the artist that they luuuuuuv, but I don't know :)

First up:

Gin Blossoms!!

I have a "20th Century Masters" cd of them, with some of their big/best songs, which I adore, so if anyone else *eyeball's gaja * has other awesome songs of theirs they love, please, send the titles my way so I can youtube/dl them ^_^

So, I think the most "well-known" quad are:  Hey Jealousy, Found Out About You, 'Til I Hear it from You, and Follow You Down, which I could sing along with completely the first time I listened to the cd, they were so ingrained in my brain, LOL.  Oh, and Allison Road
My favorites? Just South of Nowhere, Until I Fall Away, As Long as it Matters, and Pieces of the Night

Next we have:

Matchbox 20!!
(or Matchbox Twenty, if you wanna get technical)
AKA, my high school/early college soundtrack, and first musical love.  And the reason I like guys with pierced ears who wear little silver hoops, 'cause I've thought Rob Thomas was kinda hot for 10 years now ;) And with the ipod thing, I've been listening to them more lately, and realizing how much I still adore them :)  I have 3 cds--Yourself or Someone Like You, Mad Season, and More Than You Think You Are.  I adore all 3 :)

The classics:  From the very first album, Yourself or Someone Like You, the most popular, I believe, were: Real World, 3 A.M., and Push.  None of these happen to be my favorites, though I shamelessly sing along to Push in the car at a very loud volume.
I do like: Long Day (also a single, I belive),  Back 2 Good, Kody, and Hang (link to this one is a live version--couldn't find the album version on youtube. *shrug*)
As you might expect from a first album, I consider these more "raw"--not as polished, but with a surprising amount of variety for a freshman album, I would think.

Mad Season:  Errr, can I rec the whole flipping thing?  I really do pretty much love this one from start to finish.  Favorites?  Bent (especially since it's not being abused on radio anymore. . .), Bed of Lies (couldn't find an original youtube :-/--that's a lala link, hope it works), Last Beautiful Girl, You Won't be Mine (This is from a VH1 Storytellers, so he's talking at the beginning & it's live--like what he says though :)  Song starts at 1:10 or so, and it's a long song, for sure).  Seriously though, love all of them.  My favorites happen to be the softer, more lyrical ones, but Angry, Stop, and Crutch are both kinda faster & harder, and I love those too :)

More Than You Think You Are:  Good, but yeah, they were on their way to splitting up here, so it's a little different--definitely not as harsh & raw as the first one, and a few steps more polished and such than the 2nd--Nothing sticks out at me, but I enjoy the album.  I guess my favorites are UnwellCold (link is to a live version), and Downfall (Video is random O.o)

And finally, 'cause I *do* actually want to do something other than have itunes, this post, and youtube opened simultaneously today:

Counting Crows!!
Again, I have a compilation CD--Films About Ghosts, which yeah, I like :)  Favorites are:  Round Here, Anna Begins, and my absolute favorite: Holiday in Spain.  I remember my brother and his friend covering Mr. Jones a ton, though, so it has a special place in my heart :)

Okay, that's all for now folks, I'm hungry and have no food, so it's shower & food-seeking time, then back to packing :)

Also:  My bestie's hubby just got into the grad school he wanted, after his interview today, so, in his honor:  Foo Fighters, My Hero  *cheers & squees*
