susurration \soo-suh-RAY-shun\, noun:
A whispering sound; a soft murmur.
that is my favourite word right now. it arrived in my inbox on friday, from my word of the day subscription to dictionary.com
i am just dying for someone to start up a conversation with me in which i can use it.
i am now officially enrolled in the university of melbourne. we went down there yesterday, because they said it was compulsory to go between a certain time to enrol, or your place would be forfeited. so me and
how_common get up at 4:45 am to head of down to melbourne to get there in time, we sit through a bit of an info lecture, and they say righto, you can all head off now, and come back at the time allocated on those booklets we've just given you 10 minutes ago. quick glance down at the book and its telling me i have to come tommorrow (i.e. today) and be there at 10:00. grrrrrrr. took everyone so much effort to get there on that day, and they tell us to bug off and come back later?
anyway, rural people actually could enrol yesterday, so i lined up and lined up and lined up and eventually walked out with a student card, student diary, transport concession card, student union card, an armful of brochures, and the promise of a rather larger debt come census date. but, i dont have to think about that until i actually earn some decent amount of money, so im all happy.
walking out of the uni grounds, i found $100 lying on the ground. i had an sudden fear that it would be attached to some string, and there would be some camera around watching me run after it. however, it was all normal. i thought it was only $50 when i first picked it up, but there was another $50 note folded up behind it. jackpot! looked around for a bit, to see if anyone was all of a sudden patting their pockets and looking around, but everyone was just walking past minding their own business. awesome!
