the 3rd and 4th of July

I think I may start using this for songs and stuff, but not yet.

It's 4th of July time.  And 3rd of July.

July 3rd:

My favorite thing to do is go to the Red Sox by myself and have a really good view.  And I did just that.  I had one ticket to the game, and it was in section 128, row CC, seat 5.  My going-alone record is 3-0, my overall record is 9-2..not too bad.

So Dale flew into Logan, and my mom and I went and picked her up.  We went to our hotel, the Back Bay Hilton, then across to the Prudential for my personal favorite-Regina's Pizzeria.  Steph was taking the train in later that day, so we just did nothing really.

Game time!  Actually, it was 4:45 when we walked over to my second home, Fenway Park.  There's only one other place I might like more than Fenway, Berklee.  Berklee is under a mile from Fenway.  That is why I love Boston and plan on living there in my apartment on Beacon Hill (that's another story).

Anyway.  I like to get to the game by 5:00, since it's a 7:05 game.  If it's a day game, I like to be there by 11:00, since it would be an 1:05 game.  Welcome to the life of a die-hard fan.  Usually players will be signing autographs, but lately they haven't been.  I always buy something.  I actually bought two things this time: a Red Sox bandana and an all white hat with an all white vintage logo.  It's awesome.

The red Sox won 4-1.  Dice-K and Papelbon pitched, Julio Lugo went 2 for 3 after a long 0 for 33, and it was a blast.  Ispent $19.75 on food, but it's worth it.  It's unbelievably worth it.

So I walked back to the hotel alone no problem.  I trust my sense of direction more than anything else.  Also, it's not that hard-walk down Comm Ave, take a right onto Mass Ace take a left onto Boylston, and take a right down Dalton.

I beat my mom, Dale, and my sister back.  They got back about 15 minutes later.  It was a very fun night, to say the least.

July 4th:

I'm just gonna tell you the highlights of the evening.

It rained.  Actually, it poured, but nobody cared.  It was great.

We got to go into the Oval/Hatch Shell area to see the Pops and John Mellencamp.  I recommend seeing John Mellencamp live.  He's good.  Real good.  We stayed in there for a bit, then left after John Mellencamp sang.  And no, he's not John Cougar Mellencamp anymore.  He's just John Mellencamp.

This is it.  This is where the fun begins.  Julia, you may start peeing your pants, because if you had seen this, you would've died laughing.

Okay, so like I said, it poured.  And on the Esplanade there are many trees and rocks.  It was very slippery that night.  So my mom, Dale, and I left the Hatch Shell, and my mom started to walk very fast.  Dale had to run to keep up with her really.  So we're walking briskly down a tarred bike path through crowds of people trying to get a good view of the fireworks.  My mom hears a firework go off and BAM!  She took of across a grassy field like she was running in the Olympics!  She ran SO FAST it was ridiculous!!  ALl you could see was a yellow blur about 100 feet in front of you.  So I'm running and yelling, "Mom! Mom!"  And then, I trip over a tree root, fly in the air and land face first in the grass while my mother is still running for the Olympics.  I lost the backing on my cell phone, my hands were black, my pants were brown, my brand new white hat got dirty, and I have several cuts and bruises now.  Luckily Dale was behind me, or else I would've been left there on the ground.  My mother did eventually stop running, after she realized that we weren't behind her.

The fireworks were phenomenal, as always.  Then we just walked back to our hotel, and went to bed since we were wet, tired, and I was in pain.

So that's my 3rd/4th of July.  I hope you enjoyed it.  I really need to practice now.

4th of july, 3rd of july, running, mom
