Self-indulgent musing about number of fics.

On AO3 I have 34 fics, one of which is in progress (Only Truth) and one of which (MtS) will likely not be finished, especially now that "The Search" for Zuko's mother will be published soon and Azula will be part of that. A good chunk of those are 500 words or less, so it's not that impressive.

I have an additional 15 fics that I never posted or that I posted and then deleted because I either didn't like them or I liked them okay but I saw someone else do the same concept better and would rather rec theirs than post mine.

And then I have 23 stories I will likely never finish because they're dull and pointless. Some of them have the potential to be well-written stories but not interesting or thought-provoking ones, if you know what I mean.

That's about a year's worth of work, all that. I know some writers are much more prolific, and some less. I'd like to think only my best quality stories are posted but that's probably not true since many were not beta read.

My most popular fics are "The Wind in the Sail" and "Connection". The last one was an unbetaed thing I threw together for a ficbending prompt. Go figure. While I dearly love TWinS, my favorites are "Prisons of Choice" and "You Don't Stop Running Until You're Dead", with honorable mention going to "Can't All Be Heroes" and "Worst Traitor of Them All." I like my Kori Morishita better than canon Kori. What? I'm not ashamed.

What about your fics? How many do you have squirreled away in a folder, languishing there, never to see the light of day?

self-aggrandizing bullcrap, rambling, writing
