So I follow "Movie" Bob Chapman on the Escapist regularly, but I missed a week, so this is late. He
explores in more detail the analogy offered by "Cabin in the Woods" (contains major spoilers, don't read unless you've already seen the movie or don't care), and in the process makes reference to the massive fandom wank over the ending to Mass Effect 3. (I'm not in that fandom and haven't played the games, all I know is that a lot people hated it.) However, when I read his line about fans raising hell, all I could think of was 'ship wars'.

I know I've got a couple of Transformers fans on my flist, so question for you. We've been watching Transformers Prime -- my husband has that, I have Korra, we are a normal well adjusted household and I dare you to prove otherwise :P -- and then last night the pilot for the original Transformers came on. Man, the difference. Optimus Prime the solemn leader used to be Optimus Prime the fortune cookie.
I didn't watch original TF as a kid, okay? This is new to me.
What are your thoughts on the series, how they compare to each other (and to the movies, why not)? Do you like the differences, dislike them, miss one of the old characters that isn't in Prime, what?
