I got my 5 questions from the ultra-cool
agape_eternal...
Favorite Harry Potter book and Why.
Harry Potter & the Order of the Phoenix. Why is it my favorite? I'm honestly not sure. I've like the themes of rebellion & loyalty in Dumbledore's Army. We get to meet Luna, who sometimes seems to be the sanest character despite her battiness. I flove the twins' awesome exit from Hogwarts. And the scene in Dumbledore's office after Sirius dies breaks my heart every time.
Favorite Band(s) and why.
The Beatles. I never get sick of their music. EVER. What can I possibly say about them that hasn't already been said? Everything they did was pure genius. Okay, well maybe not "Ob-li-di, Ob-li-da" :P
Favorite Song(s) and why.
"Something" by the Beatles. Besides the gorgeous melody, it's like the most cynical love song ever: "You're asking me will my love grow/I don't know, I don't know". So it's actually more a song about doubt & uncertainty than actual love. I'm down with that. Seriously, I've loved it forever & could listen to it alllll day long, I'm not even kidding.
The one place you'd like to live and way.
My answer for this is totally lame...but I don't want to live anywhere other than where I live right now. It's a small dumpy depressing town but I just sort of fit there, y'know? And I'm halfway between Ft Wayne (minor pro hockey) and Indy (swim meets), so that's a bonus.
Your favorite athlete and why.
I'm gonna cheat & choose my favorite athlete from each of my two sports: Sidney Crosby & Aaron Peirsol.
Sidney is amazing & magical & a great leader & a class act. He's not a showboater LIKE SOME PEOPLE, but he still does amaaaaaazing things with the puck. The Kid has been freaking famous since he was a kid. He gets a lot of shit from the media & he handles it so well, instead of choking a bitch like I would. Plus, he's the most singularly focused & dedicated player I can think of; to the point where it's sort of scary, but that's okay. Haters can STFU & GTFO, I can't be bothered with them LOLOLOL.
And then Aaron is like the polar opposite of Sid, personality-wise. He's so laid back & chill & just goes with it, duuuuuuuude. He's basically ruled the backstroke since he was a teenager. Undefeated in the 200 back in major competitions from the 2000 Olympics (where he got a Silver in the event) to the 2007 World Championships....looooooong winning streak in the 100 back until he missed the finals @ Worlds earlier this week (still has the WR though). And he makes it look sooooooo easy...you watch him & he looks like he's out for a leisurely swim while the other guys in the pool are spinning their arms like windmills, but Aaron is toasting them. I'll never forget seeing him set his World Records in Indy earlier this month; the last 50 meters of the 100 back were sick, sick, sick. I'm rambling more than normal now, but when he missed the Finals of the 100 back, yet took the time to ask the TV interviewer if Matt Grevers made the Finals? Severe meltage.
