Brendan was on IV fluids for the last half of yesterday and the night and the doctor has ordered a restart on his feedings. But they are taking it slow. See, at home, he usually gets slow fed via a pump through the night and then twice a day he gets what we call a bolus feed, where we pour the formula into a large syringe and let it flow down into his feeding tube(GTube). But they are starting him on the slow feed and at a low dosage adding to it every four hours. And if he tolerates that, then they will try the bolus feeds and hope they have him back to his normal way of feeding.
There is a slight chance that having the spine straightened out may have shifted some things and if he doesn't tolerate his feeds again they may have GI take a look and see if he needs a different type of tube. Bu for now he's on the slow feed and resting.
I really don't have anything to complain about. There are so many children who are more ill than him or have more serious problems.
That's pretty much the news for today, so far.
