I have been living in England for over 3 years now, and somehow my landlord has decided that I am his personal secretary. I get paid well, but the man drives me completely batty.
He has been calling me at the crack of dawn, several times in the last two months. He will call and ask "can you come by today for an hour and type a letter for me?" Let me tell you what is wrong with that question.
1. I have a life outside of being his secretary. He expects me to be available whenever he calls to help him out.
2. "An hour" usually means "for the rest of the day if not your life."
3 "Type a letter" means that, get his email (because no matter how many times I walk him through outlook express, he doesn't get it), fax this, print that, book my flights to Ireland, etc.
This wouldn't be so bad if I didn't have to deal with his constant questions and repetition of every word I say, every time I go over there. He thinks I am a genius because I can input numbers into an Excel spreadsheet (when someone else already established all the macros). It makes me wonder what he did before I moved here and he was running a business.
*deep breath* I guess I really shouldn't complain too much since I really do get paid well and I don't have a job outside of this. I just wish that I didn't have to do everything for him. Oh well, can't have everything.
