So...I auditioned for Disney World last night...Open call for Singers and Comedic Actors was at 6:00...I got there a bit before this and the first person that I notice is the Danny, who played my prince this summer in Into The Woods! (It was easy to spot him over all of the people as he is well over 6'4") So after the person, whos voice I could hear coming from inside the large waiting area finsihed speaking about taking Equity people first etc. etc...the crowd dispersed to wait around and with Danny was Danielle!! I work with her at 5STAR, and I rememebered that the two of them go to school together...I can;t think of the name of the place...But it's where Chris Smith went...I want to say Providence College...But I could be wrong...Annyyyywayyy....That was delightful to see them! And they told me to go put my name on the audition sheet....I was # 90...HaHa no joke..And so I gave the gentlemen facilitating the auditionees into the actual room my headshot/resume and sat with Danny and Danielle...I kid you not when I say that there were AT LEAST 35 students from Emerson there...If not more...And out of a total of about 97...that is a lot!!! Obviously theyd all be there...They are everywhere I turn! HaHa And I recognized all of them, from classes, or seeing them in shows, or simply passing them in the hallways of the PPC... And there were a few who I said hello to, and stuff...But for the most part I just watched them all talk about themselves and how amazing they are...HaHaHa...Anyway...So I was sitting in the part of the hallway that led into the big waiting room, and alllll the way to my right down the rest of the hallway were all students from Boston Conservatory....Now, THESE people had talent, I heard them warming up and singing and whatnot, and you could just tell they were amazingly talented...So...Anyway...Into the good stuff HaHa... Sooo...
Initially the audition called for two contrasting songs, 16 bars each....I prepared the opening of Waiting For Life, (which was actually like 40 measures, but quick), and then the last 18 meausres of Princess from Man Of No Importance. I felt like thesed two constrasted quite nicely because in the first one I could really show my belty playful side, and then with Princess I could use my soft, yet not shy, headvoice side......Butttt as time started to pass it dwindled to only getting to sing one song, and it had to be 16 meausures or theyd just stop you...Soooo I wasn't sure but I was leaning more towards Waiting For Life, cause I spent my entire life auditioning for shows using my headvoice and I just felt like it wasn't a good way to represent myself to a major company, and that if they wanted someone who could sing like that, then they probly would have already found them...I donno...Annyyywayy...Soo what they were also doing was if they liked you after you sang your prepared song, then they would hang you some sheet music (or improv thing, depending on if you were there for acting or singing) and they had you learn it quickly with the pianist and then they would video record you singing it, snap a quick pic with their digital camera, and then send you out with a YELLOW peice of paper to fill out with like height, weight, eye color, contact info, etc. etc....Nowwwwwwww from where I was sitting for the 4 1/2 hours that I was waiting for my turn I only saw ONE Girl and ONE guy (both from Emerson) get a yellow peice of paper to fill out. The guy got one for acting, and the girl for ARIEL...Yes, lke the little mermaid...HaHa I heard her talking to one of her friends about how he had her sing a part of "Part Of Your World" and she was so excited cause its her favorite part yadda yadda...And then he took a snap shot and her face was so happythat she probly looked dumb...ANYWAY...They were the only two people I noticed that were asked to fill out one of the yellow forms...(which were in theory like the equivalent to a callback I suppose)...So time passed and eventually Danielle went in, cause her number was like 20 before mine and she came back out and said they didnt have her fill anything out...And I thought well if they didn't ask HER to, then they are NOT asking me!!! But to be honest, I wasn't in a nervous state at all...I just wanted to go in and do it and have fun with it, because that's what Disney World is allll abboouuuttt....I was also WAY more nervous about how I looked than how I was going to sing, oddly enough, because i had these two gross pimples on my chin, and my face was gross from rushing to do my makeup before I left (long story about sitting in my broken down car for 2 hours that afternoon inserts HERE) anyway...I was just so nervous that see me and be like EW. Bye. But anyway...So finally my poor mother finds a parking spot after like 4 hours andcomes inside to wait with me...And by this time...it was empty compared to what it was..there wee probly 15 of us left, and we can actually HEAR the people auditioning cause the room is RIGHT there, and you can see the feet of the people from the window thats not covered up by the shades they have hanging in there....and honest to God I heard some amazzzzzing people come out of there and NOT get a yellow form...I was like WOAH...Goodbye Amy...ooo yeah, ALSO! Every.single.Emerson person that walked out of there that didn't get a yellow sheet (which was all but 2) looked absolutely SHOCKED...I mean...Honestly it was like they pissed off that they werent asked to do more and fill out a form...No joke...It's hysterical when I think about their faces when they were leaving...It's like they ALL thought they were these utterly phenomenal people who would get a yellow thing because they get in every single STUDENT directed show at emerson...auuugh...i digress (and dont get me wrong, some of those people i speak of are nice and talentedand stuff...but...c'mon!) anyway...
It's MY turn!!! So I walk into the room, in my black off the shoulder sweater, teal flowy to the calf skirt, and black heals, with my hair pulled loosely back and I head to the pianist...meanwhile..there is only ONE man behind the judging table...ONE...i was expecting like 5 - 10 HHaHaHaHa Oooooooo silly Amy...So I bring my music to the pianist and he asks me how I would like the tempo to be...Sooo thanks to Joe's expertise...rather than sing the piano part...hahaha like the dun dun dun dun dun...hahaah which he toldme the night before wasNOT a good idea hahaha cause i always do that...I started to sing the first line or so in my head voice lightly so he could hear how fast and as I'm walking over to the center of the room the Judge says "Ok, wait onnneee second while I get the camera ready, I want to record you because I can already tell you are going to be good, just by that little snippet I heard you sing by the piano" WOAHHHH!!!! NOW My heart is racing..I was NOT nervous before! but now i am, because hes expecting me to be good! so anyway...I sang annnnd afterwards he asked me to smile for the little digital camera, and then he starts writing on a YELLOW PEICE OF PAPER!!!! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH So he hands it to me and tells me to fill it out etc. etc... I am in utter SHOCK!!! Like WOAH baby!! So I get out there and there are still people waiting..and when itell you that noone said anything to anyone else unless they knew them...like the first guy thats sitting there says "You sounded beautiful..it was breathetaking"....so then i start thinking...ok..is this a joke?! is there a hidden camera??!?? And then someone else said the same thing..and i felt like a celebrity or something!! hahahahah i was like WHY are they telling me I sounded good?!?! HaHa So I'm shaking as I fill out the form and the facilitator guy told me that they still had an audition in New York, but that in the next few weeks they would DEFINITELY be calling me no matter what.. (which is why im assuming they taped the people they liked..so they could remember their audtion and have their pic on the yellow sheet and stuff) and he also said that ALSO no matter what that the yellow form would be n Disneys files for AT LEAST a Year!!! OOOOO YEAH!!! On the bottom 1/3 of the sheet where all the disney personel writing goes, it said BELLE!!!!!!! Thats right...It said BELLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! BELLE! BELLE!!!! BELLE!!!!!!!! Holy pooping goodness!! It says BELLE!!!!!!!!!!! Here's the thing...No matter what, at every single audition that Disney holds they always keep their eyes out for a character, ya know if someone looks like Mulan ,they coudl be scouting them to be one of those people that puts on the costumes and walks around taking pics with all the quests in the park.... HOWEVER , at THIS specific audition they were looking for a BELLE for the BEAUTY AND THE BEAST : LIVE ON STAGE in front the the Magic Kingdom!!! The actual SHOW!!!! The LIVE stage show in front of the magic kingdom!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! to be BELLE!!!!!!!!!! oh my gosh it was like 24 hours ago and im still peeing myself from excitement!!!!!!!!!!!!!! O.M.G.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So I think that even if I don't get THAT job, that they could possibly keep me in mind to be one of those random belle costume people that walk around...though i dont know how many of those they have...they usually have more like cinderella or jasmine and mulan people i think..but i could be wrong..jsut cause theyre more distinct...i dont knwo ...i dont even care b ecause they are considering me to be BELLE LIVE ON STAGE IN FRONT OF THE MAGIC KINGDOM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! BELLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
BELLE!
oh my gosh it just hit me...im so excited gahhhhhhh ooo yeah and so i asked danielle today if she noticed if A LOT of people got yellow forms to fill out, cause after a while she went to go sit with her mom who was in the room where all the people would be filling out the forms, and she was sitting write there, and i know that i would have been checking how many people were coming out with yellow forms HaHaHa And she said NO!! She said that NOT A LOT of people got them at all!! She said a couple of like OLDER people...i dont know if that means like old, or mid twenties cause shes still 19...BUT STILL NOT A LOT !!!!!!!!!! Not a lot of people got them!! and i mean...97 people isn't THAT many people for sucha professional audition with such a huge corporation...But if only a handful of people got them out of 97 and i was one of them...WOAH BABY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! BELLE!
