Random Fandom comments:

- I saw Pirates on Friday.  Like most of my flist, Elizabeth/Will now owns my soul.  I also need to thank the flist, because without all of the squeeing last weekend, I would have taken to heart my husband's comments which were basically along the line of 'It was cheezy and he believes I'm going to hate it'.  I was content to let it go, because while I enjoyed the first two (the first one more than the second) I was never a huge fan.  He especially referenced the swordfighting wedding scene, saying it was "cheesedickery".  Well after reading carrielh's transcript of said scene, I thought it sounded awesome.   I loved seeing it play out on screen.  My only wish is that there was an added scene that showed Will and Elizabeth making up before they got married.  They pretty much went from barely speaking to each other to married right now!  I understand why it played out that way, and I know that Elizabeth's time with Bootstrap helped explain a lot of Will's actions, and that Will has been madly in love with her forever, but I did have a small voice balking at their sudden desire to get married.  I stayed to see the scene at the end, and again even though I was horribly spoiled, still fun to see it play out on screen.  I do think it started to drag a little in the middle, and some parts were a little WTF? for me, but the end really made it worthwhile for me.

- I also saw Spiderman 3 earlier in the week.  Again, I wasn't a big fan of 1 and 2.  They were okay, but I had no real desire to run out and see 3.  But I did have the opportunity, so we watched it -DH for the second time.  I enjoyed it.  I heard so much about Peter Parker's dancing in this, and the scene really was a trip.  I loved Topher Grace in this.  I really could care less though about the Sandman.  At first I didn't understand why they had so many villians, but I understood at the end the need for multiple bad guys.  MJ's emoness was a bit much at times, but DH and I had an interesting debate over whether she was whining too much or justified for her feelings.  A couple of times I openly balked about the butchering of physics in it, and DH had to remind me that we were using comic book science.  While the end battle was fun, I was kind of disappointed at the deaths in the end.

- I was reading TV Guide yesterday and came across this quote from Tim Kring, creator of Heroes.    In answer to the question "Why didn't Peter just fly up and explode himself?" he said, "Well...you're not supposed to be thinking about that.  Peter was supposed to be incapacitated with this surge of power.  But the real explanation is that we wanted Nathan to show up and do it."

Well, duh.  I don't want to critique a two sentence answer taken out of context, but if he thinks the audience isn't supposed to question plot points and character motivations, he obviously doesn't know his fan base very well.

- Another OTP to have taken over my soul is Danny/Lindsay from CSI: NY.  In a moment of weakness I went over to ff.net to see if there were any good post-season finale stories.  I figured that since there were a couple thousand listed, I could find one that was good.  Not so much.  I did though come up with a list of personal CSI: NY fanfic rules:

1.  If the story is in third person narrative and any character is described as 'gorgeous' or 'hot' I will stop reading the fic.  For example - "Lindsay handed a cup of coffee to her smoking hot co-worker, Danny Messer."
2.  If there is more than one author's note after each and every chapter and/or the A/N references how good/boring/cool/scary the previous chapter was, I will stop reading the fic.
3.  If the CSIs meet regularly to discuss any of their dating lives, I will stop reading the fic.
4.  If Lindsay spends multiple chapters nauseas/tired/feeling under the weather and has no idea why, except for the fact that it must not have anything to do with all the sex she and Danny are having, I will stop reading the fic.

- I've gone back to watching Days of Our Lives.  The 'kids' still annoy me - Phillip, Belle and Shawn are now one big happy family, bonded together over the apparent death/disappearance of Claire.  They were in a typhoon together, she went overboard but the clues are pointing to someone rescuing her.  I'm calling that she's going to return in a few months, older and working for the DiMeras.  John woke up from his coma, and he's ready to kick DiMera ass, along with Marlena, Bo and Hope.  I really like what they've done with Sami.  She finally married Lucas, and although she's pregnant with possibly EJ's baby, I like that she's now a 'good' person and wants to help the Brady's in their unending feud with the DiMera's.

Tony's back, and Stefano is supposed to return this week.  I've seen some speculation that they're finally going to reveal what caused the DiMera/Brady fight to begin with.  Days doesn't have a spectacular track record with me and their big Summer Plot Extravaganzas, so we'll see how this plays out.

My big WTF moment was when I read a spoiler that Willow, hugely pregnant with Shawn's (or maybe not) baby is apparently going to fall out of her apartment window and die this week.  Um, okay.

- I think I might hold off on anymore new Dr. Who eps until Sci-Fi starts showing them next month.  I still haven't seen the end of the two parter, and since I've lost track of how many eps I'm behind on now, I thought I would just start fresh on July 6th.  Although seeing all the out-of-the cut reaction to the latest episode, makes me a little antsy to start watching again.

- Sort of fandom related.  I've been playing with my long-ago created but shortly thereafter abandoned MySpace page the last week or so.  Some RL friends have been doing a lot of stuff with their pages, and wanted me to join their network.  After spending some time last night playing with it, it makes me appreciate Livejournal, even with the drama they have going on.  I tried to update my page, but they don't make it easy.  I went to their help section on changing layouts and it basically said, "Add CSS or HTML codes to the 'about me' section to customize.   If you're not familiar with either, find someone in your friends network and ask them."  Wow, that's helpful.  I'm not a computer idiot, but I'm also not well versed in either language.  I did find a layout website through one of my friends, but I still haven't changed it.  If anyone else has a MySpace page, I'm amykay73 there too.

Hmm...4 O'Clock.  I have time to take a nap before dinner :)
