One of the greatest movies of all time, Rock Star in on HBO Signature right now. My entertainment for the evening is set.
The 't' key is arbitrarily sticking on my laptop. Thank goodness for spell check or I would have looked like an idiot all day.
Adventures in home improvements continues.
Today we got new carpet installed in the media room and basement. That was pretty painless, well relatively speaking. Since DH was on his reserves weekend, I spent most of yesterday getting rid of the old carpet and moving furniture. And then woke up this morning and realized yet again why I don't do a lot of heavy manual labor as the aches and pains settled in. But the carpet guys came, they laid down the carpet and it all looked good. So this evening we needed to move everything back into place. I had noticed earlier in the day that one of the outlets in the media room was being quirky, which was the one that most of the electronic equipment was connected to. Once Eric came home and started to reconnect everything he too noticed that the outlet was powering on and off. I suggested a loose wire, and since he had already replaced an outlet in another room, it was no big deal to open it up and check it out.
Being the lesser of the risk takers in the family I also suggested that the repair would be better performed with the circuit breaker off. But Mr. "I skimmed through the Basic Wiring book" was pretty confident that he could change out the outlet without the minor detail of killing the power. However, despite his best attempt of keeping the white and black wires apart, they touched and sparked and blew the circuit breaker. We didn't realize the last part of that statement until one of the boys went to use their bathroom and the light wouldn't turn on.
Since, coincidentally enough, the last time Eric changed out an outlet he blew the circuit breaker he was well versed with an emergency run to the Home Depot. The twist on this adventure is that last time it happened in the middle of the afternoon and therefore in broad daylight and not at dinner time when it was dark. So the boys and I held flashlights in the garage for my darling electrician while he swapped out the circuit breaker. And voila, we had power back to the whole house.
Bah! This icon made me realize I missed HIMYM again tonight. I got to get a new TIVO.
