Unpopular Fandom Opinions

May 18, 2009 09:38

My morning workload was just cut in half, so to celebrate - a post. I think this is the first time I've done one of these, or at least dedicated a whole post to "So why doesn't everyone think the same as me?!?"
  • Bones season finale - I thought was brilliant. I thought for sure people were going to be falling over themselves writing fic about the AU. Come on, how fun would it be to play with alternate version of these characters? Zack is around! Sweets is a bartender! Booth is super alpha male protective of his wife! And there's a baby! But not only was I wrong about that, I didn't realize how passionately people hated the episode. I'm not crazy about the last thirty seconds, but I want to see where they are taking this. On a side note this ep proves how important it is for your DVR to record the whole episode. Not only did my DVR decide it wasn't going to tape the show, a fact I realized at 8:07 Thursday night, but it also cut out the last minute. I tried to watch the episode from the seven minute mark and was hopelessly lost. So first, I went on-line, watched the beginning and then proceeded to finish the rest of the ep. When it cut off the last scene, I foolishly wondered if I had missed anything important. A second trip on-line showed, that yes I did.
  • Christian Bale - I can't stand him. I was never a big fan of his, which is why I didn't make an effort to see Batman Begins. I watched Dark Knight for Heath, and Christian Bale's Batman turned me off. Then he had his much publicized meltdown, and I hated him even more. Now he's John Connor, and I would be so excited for this new Terminator movie, but I can't because of him, and that pisses me off. He was on a talk show this morning that was on at the gym, and just seeing him on screen made my blood pressure rise.
  • Buffy the Vampire Slayer - The world's longest series watch is continuing in my house. I just finished disk 3 of season 3, and this show is killing me. I just don't care about any of the characters this season, and all of the problems they are having. There isn't enough Buffy/Angel for my taste, and at this point I just want to finish this season so I can start watching Angel to see if I like that any better. As a subset of this, I don't think I'm a huge fan of Eliza Dushku. Which may be one of many reasons I gave up on Dollhouse after a couple of eps.

ETA: Damn you Fox and your Sarah Connor cancellation! Not that it comes as any surprise, but I was holding out hope. I guess Bones is the only thing left on Fox that I will watch next year.
