So...OTPs.  Do you have one that is truly your all time favorite?  One that you've loved for years, maybe on and off, but still something brings you back in?  And either you remember a canon scene, or a fic snippet and suddenly you're sucked back in to the awesomeness of the couple?  Mine is Flint/Lady Jaye from GI Joe and I'm experiencing what is ( Read more... )

Oh, Alex and LT! They were an early OTP - the two of them, Kid/Lou and Flint/LJ really occupied much of my impressionable teenage years. But I think Tour of Duty broke my shippers heart when they killed Alex off, and I still haven't recovered. I did buy season 2 of ToD a while ago in the hopes to reminisce about the good ol' late eighties but I couldn't make it through a complete episode. I think I didn't want to watch their romance unfold knowing what her ultimate fate was.

But on the plus side it made me a for life fan of Kim Delaney. I'll watch anything she's in. Plus it helps that I think her circa ToD time period would have made her perfect to play Lady Jaye if they had decided to do a live action GI Joe movie back then.

I also followed her to another intense but brief shipper love of her and Jimmy Smits character in NYPD Blue. Coincidentally, that too ended in tragedy, but at least when I was catching up on those eps I knew Simone was going to die.

Yeah, I did feel quite torn about Jimmy on the Young Riders. I was all about Lou/Kid, so I too was thinking the "no, bad Jimmy!" thoughts but he was so sweet about it, that I really couldn't fault the guy too much. Kind of like how I feel about Logan and his helpless love of Jean in the XMen movies.

Speaking of the XMen, I was so pissed to find out that the new cartoon airs on Nicktoons which we don't get with the craptastic Comcast cable system. But thanks to the wonders of the internet and the legality of channels clueing into the fact that streaming videos of their shows is a good thing, I caught up on the first three eps. I'm not totally sold on the writing of the cartoon, and I'm not crazy about it being all Wolverine all the time, but the simple fact that it looks like old school cartoons is enough to keep me hunting down eps.
