Yesterday, Gonzalo and I had one of the best days ever.
We woke up at a lazy 9am and prepared for our splurge-of-the-season: a trip to Dorney Park. Basically, it's Cedar Point's little sister (about 1/3 of the size) right in Allentown. The conditions for the day were perfect. It was sunny and 80 degrees, and there were NO LINES for any of the rides (which were still a blast, although not quite as high or as numerous as those at Cedar Point). By 4:30pm, we had visited every single ride and were ready to head home.
After some dinner and a nap, it was still warm and the sun was just starting to get low in the sky. So, we took a long walk around the city, visited the new ice cream parlor just down the block from our house, and then sat on our front porch for a while, watching the neighborhood calm down. I even brought out my guitar and sang some of my old favorites---something I hope to do more often this summer.
It was a perfect end to a really stellar weekend of music, dancing, great food, campfires with friends, enjoying the beginning-of-summer-warmth, and generally being so thankful for the gift of life and all of it's riches.
