Reading was.....ugh?
I picked up Pam, we went to Wendy's, met Adam and Joy and Ashley in the mall parking lot at 8:30 and they piled up in my car...blasted stuff from Joy's iPod (mostly ridiculous 90s music :D like 'N Sync and Soul Decision and SPICE GIRLS!) Adam was cool enough to buy us whatever drinks we wanted from a truck stop with a McDonald's attached. The truck stop also had these uh, sweet leather jackets:
Adam & Pam
There was an even better one with purple fringe ahaha.
Ashley ordered some no sugar low fat iced vanilla latte or whatever, and I thought it sounded good and it definitely was, so, new favorite drink from McD's cafe.
We made it to Reading by 10 and my god, was it a mess. ON workers, contruction workers, other people all running around. Drilling in the middle of women's mainstreet, stripping walls and fixtures and moving them all over the place. A new fitting room is going right smack in the middle of the store, so they were building an odd shaped wall for the area to block off the construction zone, and all the merchandise was to be moved around this wall so customers can still have a somewhat decent shopping experience. If you like shopping in circles and all. As soon as we get there, this lady shoots direction at me Joy and Ashley to start making endcaps and put these here, that there. And we're like "what? no visual? we don't know wtf you want" so we'd do it our way and she'd come back and want it her way. Total lack of communication. Then our fixtures are completely different than theirs, so we were confused as to how some of it went together, and their employees were talking to us like we're retarded.
Then this lady had us moving shelves and t-stands and large tables and whatnot back into the shops to make room in the middle for the wall. And lots of HEAVY things. And then all three of us would charge at it, plus whatever guy was nice enough to help us, move it to the opposite end of the store, and five minutes later we'd get directions to move it somewhere else. My arms, legs, back, hell my whole body, is now completely sore. There was also a point when I couldn't back up any further against a wall and Joy kept pushing and ended up jamming this heavy table on wheels on my toe, causing me to scream and hop around screaming MOTHERFUCKER! MOTHERFUCKER! It still hurts, and that was at midnight. I examined my whole foot though and it looks fine. I thought for sure I'd take off my sock to find a missing/cracked toenail.
If I didn't lose ten pounds last night, I'll be surprised. Though with all the cookies I ate, I'm sure that didn't happen.
Also, leave it to me to find the free food room. It was a wonderful room filled with Subway catering, cookies galore, doughnuts, 20 bags of candy, banana bread, etc. I now feel like it is a habit of life to grab handfuls of candy and shove it into my knit boots for secret snacking in the middle of the salesfloor.
We had our "lunch" hour at 2am and spent it laying in my car. Joy and I called our friend Benji and pissed off his girlfriend or whoever that was that kept picking up his phone and demanding who we are and hanging up on us. We finally got through to him and I think chick grabbed the phone from him, 'cause he hung up in mid-sentence.
Flipping their flop wall, being surprised by their lack of organization when it comes to upstocking, dragging more fixtures outside in gravel for trash, blahblah, and we were out by 7am. Adam offered to drive and he's a sweetheart and all, but I warned them about his driving, how I've spent some summers of our friendship clinging on to dear life because he likes to drive in both lanes at the same time while looking in the backseat while he's talking. Right away I was proven correct when he starts to drive and I go "....dooooo you want to adjust the mirrors at all?" and he says "Oh no, I don't need them, I never use mirrors while I'm driving anyway." FACEPALM. Actually, he does use the mirrors, to fix his hair.
We made it back in one piece by 8:20am and I was effing TIRED. However, my miles say it was 165 for a roundtrip, and at 55 cents a mile, that racks up to about an extra $100 for gas money that will appear on my paycheck, so that's enough to keep me bright eyed. And Pam and I are going again next Tuesday, so baaaaaam.
I napped for a few hours and now I'm up because everyone wanted to call/text me at the same time.
Peaceful environment and full body massage plz.
