Catholic Church: WTF???
So, the Church's investigation into clergy sex abuse blames the sexual revolution for making sexually "deviant" behaviour socially acceptaable. I'd bet, instead, that social openness about sexual topics explains the increase in *reporting* abuse. As with rape and physical abuse (both child abuse and partner abuse) there was a measurable increase in victims SPEAKING UP and accusing their attackers. Do we really believe that there were fewer rapists and wife-beaters 100 or more years ago? Or were their victims just afraid and unable to speak out, and lacking any support from society in general?
But the Pope and his minions would rather blame "permissiveness" than their own institutional culture of patriarchal entitlement. *headdesk*
