Wandered out to catch up with the family (and take my Mom to a birthday lunch) Saturday morning. Managed to hit FOUR separate completely-stopped-traffic sections, including the joy of a combo Tigers & Red wings game. Rrrarr. Still, since getting an Ipod a while back, I find such delays don't stress me out as much as they used to.
Had a nice lunch and chat with Mom, then visited Gramma & Grampa for a bit.
Talked to Meagan (prior mentioned married sister) and Mom about her move. She says that they fight a lot, and it's not "healthy" fighting, and there's lots of drama... blah blah blah. I dunno, to me it just sounded like she decided it was just too much work being married and she was done. She doesn't have the best track record on follow-through for good things.
Chris (her hubby) is willing to go to counseling and work on things and try to make things right. Meagan, apparently, isn't. She isn't even gonna try from what it sounds like.
I just wanna shake her until her teeth rattle around and tell her to wise up for once in her life. Instead, I was a good big sister and was supportive yet non-commital and told her if there's anything she needs to let me know. And bought her lunch.
I dunno, I think she just hasn't ever been with someone who was truly "bad". I wanna tell her all the horrible things that she could experience, but I don't think I'm ready to 'fess up as to the extent of things - I've always been pretty closed off about my personal life in regards to updating the family.
All in all though, a relatively good visit.
Meandered out to Craig's, chatted a bit with he and Ringo, watched karaoke downloading off the camera. Spilled green glitter eyeshadow into the boys' sink, which craig assures me will match nicely with the silver shadow and sparkle glitter that were supposedly already there (no glasses!) Headed out to O'Mara's to see Blackthorn.
Got to surprise Mark & Johnathan (who pro'ly wouldn't've even recognized me for at LEAST another 5 minutes had Craig not specifically pointed me out as someone he might remember) and meet back up with Herman (whom Craig had already told I'd be there, so no surprise, boo hiss!!), Vernita and Collin. Got to meet Tammy & Mom Sher, very nice ladies. There were some other people there, but I got distracted during the intros and now feel really bad that I can't remember their names.
Muchly good music and convo. Many funny stories. Good crab cakes, though they could've gone better with a Remoulade instead of a Garlic Mayo sauce. AWESOME choco bumpy cake *drool*!!!! Cherry stem trick was dutifully admired by da boys.
At one point, Vernita showed a sketch she'd done and I was struck by inspiration! So while helping with a story and headbanging to Music For a Found Harmonium, I made an origami crane.
Upon showing Jonathan, his response was... "What is WRONG with you?? You're sitting here with friends chatting and listening to good music and that's STILL not enough? You're not just A.D.D., you're like ADDDDDDDDDD"
To which the only logical response seemed to be, "No I'm not!! I'm ADDDDOooohShiney!!!"
We then wrote a request on the crane's wings and sent it up with a few bills in its beak. Don't think they ended up playing the request though, doh!
Back to Ypsi, where I realized I'd sobered up and Craig was up way past his bedtime so wandered over to the lair of my fellow night owl. Caught the end of Big Bounce, which seemed good, but not good enough to watch all of now that I'd seen the end. Caught John up on family drama and bemoaned Meagan's silliness with a good man. John's friend Brian came over and much fun commenced! Outdrank the boys on whiskey, got to model cute military outfits, had a blast watching Brian try to convert John to his team and fail miserably. Eventually, Brian passed out (drunkenly?) on one of the couches and then it was bedtime.
Good drive home today, no traffic spots, though I couldn't resist having the windows down some since it was sooooo beautiful out and now have pink patches on my arms/hands. Ah well, such is life. Now to try and nap before work.
