work was long yesterday, but i was on sandwiches and front register all day which was nice for a change, and i got to work with all the *cool* people. a couple weeks ago, we hired a mexican woman named Maria and she doesn't speak ANY english, so after andy left last night, who was her primary trainer/translator, i had the honor of helping her for the last hour of her shift. what an awesome experience...actually communicating with someone that knows absolutely no english. im suprised that i remembered so much spanish in the first place, but man, that was tough. she taught me a few new words, including "fila" which is "rows" in english...i was trying to tell her to put a new row of patties on the grill. and i knew how to say turn, but not flip, so she taught me "voltear." i was trying to teach her how to say salt and she couldn't say it! it was so cute...she was like, "saauuuwlte." i actually had some decent conversations with her, with lots of hand gestures and spanglish of course. im surprised nobody else knew any spanish except for melissa, who knew the numbers, so when she needed two singles she was like, "maria! dos singles!" good times. we have also established that anything that goes into the "employee water cup" (dixie cup size) is considered water...including all types of meat and chili....

after work i practiced for a good hour or so and went to arch hall to keep kristin company. she also found me something to do, and i'll get paid $10...i have to make flashcards for her and someone else in her architecture history class. 98 of them, to be exact, including the photo, name, years of construction, and architect, and the guy wants me to print everything directly onto the card. bitch. so i was up till about 2:30 last night, and was miraculously awake this morning for the first rehearsal with tommy lee. he looks really icky...definitely not idol-material in my opinion, but whatever. there were lots of cameras and stuff which was fun to watch.

i found out today that i have to play the entire flute part for Peter and the Wolf today for my lessons. i totally freaked out, ran to the library to get my part copied and i've spent about 2 hours preparing it....its not quite as bad as i had anticipated, but its still pretty bad. i don't want to go to my lesson...im always so tired, and his office is so hot and stuffy that you just want to collapse and fall asleep.

i got a 97 on my anal. paper....yay! i worked really hard on it, and i quote, my "tracings and ideas were very fine." i guess he just doesn't give out 100s...he said he hasn't found any papers that were good enough yet. next time, Richie, next time.....

i counted 54 ladybugs in my practice room this afternoon. gross. oh, and some middle school boy's choir clinic is at UNL today, and seeing them playing around outside reminded me of all-state my junior year when amber and i hid under massive piles of leaves and jumped out at college students screaming, "THIS IS ART!!!!!!!!!"
