(no subject)
ay ay ay!!!!!!! these past couple days have been soooo tiring and busy. the rehearsals are long, some are hot, some are cold, some are boring, but thank god this afternoon is the last one. im so pumped for the exhibition...we finished learning pregame last night which is very impressive, and we had the rookie memorization checks too, and i passed! yay! i even have the first game's halftime show memorized. here are the songs we had to have memorized: pregame fanfares/no place like nebraska (that song is LONG), Come a Runnin' Boys, Star Spangled Banner (in a different key than im used to), Mr. Touchdown USA, March Grandioso, Cornhusker March, and Hail Varsity, plus In the Mood and Basie Finale for halftime next weekend. I'm so glad its overwith...i didn't think i'd be able to memorize it all, but i did it! ha...anyways....been going to parties every night and getting home at like 2, which sucks, but i've met soooo many people. last night, i admit, i had my first alcoholic beverage. i figured i might as well try it instead of sitting around wondering what its like, so i did....orange juice and an extremely small amount of rum...it was okay, i had a little bit and gave the rest to my sister and stuck to my cream soda, then kristin convinced me to try a jello shot, so i had a tiny piece and spit it out....it was so disgusting. i just really don't think ill be drinking again...EVER....well maybe when im older or something and i can appreciate the taste of alcohol, cus its just really nasty to me right now.
band is so hilarious...the things ranks do...its just great. like during a water break, we're all sitting on the sidelines, and i look over and the entire trombone rank (20+ people) are laying on the 50 SPOONING EACH OTHER. and im like, "what're they doing!!!??" and someone is like, "oh...its spoon thursday for the trombones." sweet tradition, eh? everyone is so funny...this is going to be so fun, i can't wait. and just like it was in high school, band is going to help me make so many friends. if i wasn't in band at east, i wouldn't have known ANYBODY, and im sure that will be the case at UNL too. yay band!!! and tonight is TGIO, which should be fun.
