i DO think it's wrong to purchase a purebred cat OR dog when there are shelter ones by the million. i totally disapprove of purebreeding despite the fact that i can spot what breed a dog is or even what mix of breeds from like a mile away, and there's sooooooo many breeds that i think are so beautiful and adorable and charming and the world would be so much emptier without their lil faces(sheba enu is one!!)
however, i have this bourgie image of myself getting a hypoallergenic cat in a few years when i live somewhere where i can have a cat. reason is, despite growing up in a house where we'd sometimes have 4 cats at a time, i became allergic when i went to college. and i get these fucked up asthmatic symptoms if i'm locked up in a carpeted house with cats in the winter. so i'm thinking in order not to suffer so much, i might look for a hypoallergenic one (i don't even know what that means, except that i've heard they make those now for cat-lovers like me)or getting one of those hairless Devon Rex cats which everyone thinks are so gross.
i think they're cute, and i could find one on Petfinder without having to buy it. maybe you should look for a persian kitten on petfinder (tho i know you feel like this is The One.)...
let me know when yr in that area... both of those fucking trains suck for me actually, can we meet in park slope or something where they have coffee and tea lattes or some shit like regular lesbians? jeez... i'm a yellow book of coffee in nyc if you want suggestions on places to get joe, i wouldnt mind getting organized.
