Reid loses his respect for Bob
Prompt: Luke is brought into the ER sick/injured just as Reid is about to go into surgery. Bob forbids the staff from telling Reid about Luke being in the ER because he doesn't want it to interfere with Reid doing the surgery. How does Reid react when he finds out?
That was weird.
Just before he went into surgery he heard a lot of noise and even someone shouting (Was it that blond Janitor screaming "You can't do this"). He saw Bob coming toward him and asked him if he needed help. Bob just pushed Reid toward the operating room that he was going to perform his magic in while saying "Nothing you can help me with right now. I will fill you in after your surgery. Go help mister Baker".
He forgot the incident as soon as he scrubbed in and got to work.
But when he went to the waiting room he was stopped by Bob and asked to follow him first.
They went in to an empty consult room. Before Bob sat down Reid asked what the hell was going on. "There is something that you need to know Reid. Luke has been in an accident. He was waiting in a line at the bakery when the roof came down above a little girl he pushed her aside but got a big piece of the roof on his back. For a short while he could not feel his legs. I don't know if you know this but he was paralised for a while three years ago. Fortunately after the MRI test results came back we could detect it was a case of the nerves being stuck in a twisted position. Doctor Linger did a small surgery to take the pressure of. He should be waking up soon. But he will be in pain for a few day's so we will keep him comfortable with a morphine drip. He has no broken bones but a lot of bruises."
"So you are telling me Luke was scared and in pain. Is there a reason why I was not informed when Luke was being brought in." Reid felt a lot of anger racing trough him but he knew he had to remain calm.
"You could not be Luke his doctor. Mister Baker needed his surgery". Bob shrugged.
"I could have one of our two other surgeons do the procedure. Or I could have postponed the surgery a day. Luke needed me and you kept me in the dark".
"Luke knew you where in surgery he will not hold a grudge against you. He just told us to get you after surgery."
"He did not know I haven't started the procedure yet. I could have hold his hand when he thought he was paralised again. I know a lot of bad things happen when you are not with the one you love. But I know that I could have been there for Luke and you made sure I wasn't. This is not the last time we will talk about this Bob. But now I am going to be with Luke. You can tell mister Baker his family that the surgery went well and he will be waking up soon. You can look for someone else to take my shifts for the next few days to" Reid turned around not looking back at the man he used to have respect for and left the room.
He walked into the recovery room giving the nurse a glare not to complain that he should not be there. When he saw Luke his bed he closed the curtain and sat next to him holding his hand and reading his chart. He was not there when he could be there for Luke when he was brought in, but he was going to make sure he would be here when he woke up.
Thirty minutes later Luke opened his eyes. When he looked up at Reid he could smile again. For the first time since he got in.
"I am so glad to see you" They said at the same sharing a smile.
