My boyfriend has family in Australia, so every year at Christmas over Skype, they try to convince us to visit. It helped their case a lot when half the animals I wanted to see (mostly marsupials) live in some capacity in their backyard. XD
If you're fiance's not into Japanese stuff much, it might be better to go with a friend who's equally into shopping and various geeky Japanese stuff. As much as my boyfriend was plenty happy shopping for anime stuff (he's a big gundam geek), he was still terribly bored when it came to the clothing shopping and it kind of worked against both of us. He felt bad cause he was bored by the shopping and I felt bad that he was bored by the shopping.
We met a guy in our hostel from Australia who told us that airfare's actually quite expensive despite Asia being the closest continent to Australia, so it might be worthwhile doing Japan as a whole separate trip. We were exhausted from all the walking by the end of the trip, and that might not be the most desired physical state for a honeymoon. XD

The arcades there are really awesome. Most of the games are semi-typical of arcades, but they have the seriously ridiculous, like the table flipping game, and the seriously awesome, like the Gundam games where you the pod you're in is made to be like the cockpit. Japan has too many cool things.
