Because you all have been waiting with baited breath (because indeed I am fishing for agreement :P).
Most of this is C&Ped from an email to

Saturday we did all kinds of things. We went to Christie's, a local bakery - it's fabulous. Then we went to the farmer's market, which is actually more like a flea market and to get any really good stuff you have to be there right away in the morning. We got there at 12:15, and there wasn't a whole lot left. But we had some ice cream, and bought some veggies, and a soft cookie. Then we went to the Bulk Cheese Warehouse, where we bought some not-very-good samosas and some Thai noodle salad for lunch, and I got some organic cheddar. I was looking for medium white cheddar, but couldn't find anything less than 4-year-old, which is too strong for my liking. So I got the organic, because it was white, and I'll see if it tastes like white cheddar or just regular cheddar. :) Then we went on a boat tour of the river. It's not like in Ottawa; here you get on the boat and you can buy very expensive cans of pop and you get a little booklet with no guides talking or anything. It was nice, although kind of chilly, since clouds rolled in and when we were at the point where we turned around to get to the boat launch we could *see* the rain falling in the city. Luckily, we only got a few sprinkles before we went below-deck, and it wasn't raining near the Mendel, where we were parked. Then we stopped at the grocery store for some milk and lettuce, so we could have a salad with our market-veggies with our marinating chicken for dinner, and I came home to play on my computer and do some laundry.
Sunday I laid around - literally, as I spent a good portion of it in bed with Lappy - and did very little until we went out for dinner at Samurai, the hibachi place in the Bessborough hotel, with Chris' dad and Alanna, then came home and did nothing again. Monday - the actual birthday - I got woken up by another spider-nightmare. I hate them, and they happen a lot on my birthday. In this one, we were at my old house on Aldea, although my bedroom was not quite the same. The dimensions of the room must have been larger, as I had a big flat-screen on my desk, which was significantly away from my bed, although that was still in the middle of my room, and I had a couch in there too. It was a summer afternoon, and wrestling was on, and Dan Featherstone was over watching it with me. And his hair was kind of short and spiky, a little more flat-top than Dean in Supernatural season 1, but similar... definitely not the long and curly 'do that he has going on now! Anyway. So we were watching, and then I saw a spider. He killed it for me, and then they sort of... invaded. Although they weren't normal. They were patterned like clownfish, and like, the size of the palm of my hand, and... thick. It was gross. And there were so many, it was like if you killed one, two or three would replace them. And Mom and Dad were all, stop overreacting, just squish tehm. And Dan was trying to kill them, but they were fast and like I said, multiples replaced one. It was really bad. And I couldn't get out of the room. Anyway, I woke up in a cold sweat, sitting bolt upright. Chris is amused by my nightmares, because he never has ones like I do, not the vivid clarity I have, and often he doesn't dream in colour, and his nightmares tend to be stress dreams, like the i-have-a-test-and-i-never-got-the-text ones. Although this nightmare is a bit of a step up from the one where I was a quadriplegic and Mom threw spiders at my face and then knocked me down a cliff...
So. This was how I woke up (it was totally morning; it was 11:55 and I was cranky because I didn't see the point in trying to get another 40 minutes of sleep and I didn't fall asleep until like 5). I made a salad and chicken sandwich for lunch and checked email, hit up Facebook, got some text messages from Toni and Matt, then showered and called Mom so I could open presents, and was soundly mocked for not having opened them yet. Then I went for my manicure - the one I had in Ottawa was better - and a "seated chair massage" which is basically a neck, shoulder and back massage that you get while sitting forward in a massage chair and it's only 15 minutes. The massage was actually kind of painful, but I do feel a little looser. And now my nails are a sparkly purple. It's a pale purple base - it is to purple what cornflower is to blue - with iridescent tiny sparkly bits in it. Very cute. Then we went to Beily's, a place that's a little more upscale than Earl's, but charges about the same and you get HUGE portions. I ordered nachos as an appetizer (side note: teh nachos dented my manicure!), and it could feed two people as a meal, for only $11, and I got a margherita pizza with chicken added as my main course for only $11 as well, and it was 6 slices! It could also feed 2 people easily. And? The best part... I got a "martini" (it was in a highball glass) called Where's My Mullet. :D It's awesome - Kahlua, Bailey's, Frangelico, milk and chocolate syrup, served so it is frothy. It's like an all-alcohol milkshake that you can hardly taste any alcohol in. Fabulous. Then we came home and I went back to Facebook, watched some of the hockey game - it was on at the restaurant too - and called Priscilla, threw *another* load of laundry in, and watched wrestling.
It was a busy weekend, but I feel much more rested. I think I really needed the time away from work. I still haven't heard anything about the Indigo job, though. The skeleton of the building is up; we drove past it the other day. It looks pretty big, and Tyler has seen the floor plans. Apparently it's gonna be kind of like the newer Chapters, in that it'll have raised floor sections and a fireplace in it. I'm excited about it, even if I don't get the job.
In summary: Bakeries = tasty. Farmer's Market was good. Boat tour was fun if not quite worth the money. Dinner with parents-in-law was surprisingly uneventful. I have "fun" nightmares. Manicures are of the good, and now I'm all purple and sparkly. Beily's is an eat-at-again place, and have "martinis" called WHERE'S MY MULLET. Srsly. Lappy is the win.
