SPN fic recs: Five Classics and One New Classic
So there was a call for recs over at spnfencentral, and lord knows I like to talk, so I've made a list of some great fic that you all should read... or reread, as the case may be.
Wincest Classic: violate all the love that I'm missing by keepaofthecheez. demon!Sam/Dean, Jo; NC-17. AU for Born Under A Bad Sign. One of the best Dean-POV's I've read based around this episode, and I can really see this happening in an alternate universe. Have I mentioned lately how hot demon!Sam is? HELLO, SAM. And I'm a Dean-girl.
Crossover Classic: The City of Angels (and Demons and Lawyers) by joyfulgirl41. Also Wincest; crossover with Angel the series, R. Crack!fic, according to the author (although, to me, crack is totally out-there and impossibly AU; I maintain that this is just coincidental and genderswappy.) Lighthearted and fun.
Slash Classic: Halo (In Reverse) by poisontaster. Dean/others, Adult. Pre-series. One of my favorites, this is also het. Hooker!fic, too. It's dark, and angsty, and... No one breaks Dean quite like PT.
Het Classic: Out of Your Half-Dreamed Dreams by ficwriter1966. Dean/Ellen, R. I don't usually 'ship Dean with Ellen, but ficwriter1966 makes this so believable. It's immediately post-AHBL II, and far less about the sex than it is the comfort of someone familiar when the landscape has shifted to much so fast. A great outsider POV on Dean, from someone who knows him.
Gen Classic: The Thing About Clowns by dodger_winslow. PG-13, and the longest story on here, clocking in at about 10,000 words. Mostly pre-series, bookended by Everybody Loves a Clown. Features all three Winchesters. My favorite line? "Dude." Dean’s tone was quiet, appalled. "You stuck your damn clown to my car."
The New Classic: Where No One Knows Your Name by ravenrants. PG-13, John-centric; some hints at season 3 plotlines, but no spoilers if you're up-to-date. This is fabulous, and no one seems to know it exists! It's been up for two weeks, so it's definitely fresh. The ending gave me chills. Go give it some love.
