5 words meme

Jul 05, 2009 23:07

I'm aware that it's been awhile since I've written anything, and that no one that's not a Salonista has any clue what I've been up to (other than the obviousness of child and baby care) but instead of a real entry, I'll do a meme I got from munchkinstein--who gave me 5 random words to write about. I'll do the same for you, if you want (provide words, that is...)

Crisps
Ah, the British version of chips. I've just eaten a tiny bag, and had eaten a similarly tiny bag of Doritos when I checked my email earlier to see that my words had been provided. The bags were left over from the snack bar we had inside our fireworks booth, which is what has consumed our lives this past fireworks-selling season, and that hardly anybody heard about, unless they are a Salonista, in which case they're probably tired of hearing about it.

Shipping
I've gotten to where I almost don't consider buying something online unless I can get free shipping. The only real exception to this is hay and guinea pig pellets, which are cheaper, even with shipping costs, than buying locally, since I haven't any place to store a full bale of hay, and neither feed store sells hay in flakes, just  full bales or the little pet-sized bags, which adds up.

Stoats
I don't know much about stoats, except that they are in the weasel family and are among the bad-guy species in the Redwall series.

Calgary
Proof that I'm tired is that when I first saw this list in my email, I thought this word was Calvary, and started thinking out something to write. Then I realized that Calgary was slightly different... Calgary's in Canada, and I think there was a Winter Olympics there once.

Tectonics
Being in a coastal town in California, I'm aware of tectonics. Right around here is fairly stable, but with how the bay and harbor are shaped, we're extra vulnerable to tsunamis. In fact, one wiped out a fair portion of town in1964, and there was a week-long series in the local paper this spring commemorating  the 45th anniversary.

**EDIT--OK, after link hopping, I found that they're supposed to be words that the word-giver associates with the word-requester. Which really makes me wonder...
