Why do social sites like MySpace, LiveJournal, and Facebook feel it is necessary to re-arrange things all the time? I get that when the grocery store does it, it is to force you to look around for the things you want in the hope that you will buy extra stuff. But what is the purpose on a social website? The only thing that happens is things are no longer where they were, and therefore are hard to find... I do not spend extra money, I am just frustrated. I am, in fact, far more likely to CANCEL MY ACCOUNT now than I was before they jacked up all my stuff.
There were two widgets- only two, for crying out loud!- that I used on my hompage; the one I really cared about, which showed me recent comments on my journal, is now smaller, down and to the side instead of front and center, displays less information, and is almost useless. There are several new widgets stuck in there that I DO NOT WANT in any way. There appears to be no way to remove the widgets I am not interested in, nor to move things aorund so at least what I am interested in is at the top. And if I was just using a free service, I wouldn't be in a position to complain... but this isn't free. I do pay for it. Not a lot, but enough that I really ought to be able to have my homepage arranged in the manner I find useful and comfortable. And with money so tight lately and me trying to cut costs anywhere I can, I have even considered eliminating that tiny expense... plus I only log in once or twice a week anymore... I use Facebook a lot more than LiveJournal... and NOW they have jacked up my nice little routine.
Why am wasting my time and money again?
Oh, that's right. The old entries and photos... but the photos could be moved rather easily. And when was the last time I went through my old entries? I can't even remember... so do I REALLY need them?
Hm.
