Going blonde
Originally uploaded by Amy Grimes. It wasn't pretty, and it sure wasn't fun, but in two hours on a Wednesday morning I went from mostly brunette, to really really blonde...

(apologies for poor pic quality)
To maintain this color I'm supposed to go and repeat this process every 4 weeks which will shed my bank account of $100. I have a feeling it won't last long. I love being a girl and I like being girly, but how women do this on a regular basis - sitting still while enough aluminum is put on my head to shield me from every possible brain controlling alien within the known universe - I'll never know. I love pedi's but sitting still long enough to get one is excrutiating to me. B likes when I'm all girl-i-fied so I guess I'll continue to make an effort.

I went out to the Hall of Fame to hear Boss sing last night. She's back up with the band that does very americana music (john cougar mellencamp-ish) and they are so much fun. It was a short gig so I went down to Bourbon Street (again) for a night cap and one set.

There were friends I hadn't seen in awhile so it was fun to shock them with the blonde. Michael had just gotten back from a tour in Japan that morning, Peter was in rare form with Stacy ( Mitchhart )out of town and the opportunity to play some of his own tunes.

While most of my friends and aquaintances always include this bar as a stop in their round of clubs around town, the other reason I enjoy that place is the tourists. At any given time about 1/2 of the people in there are conventioners or out-of-towners. I alays make a point to sit at one of the long bar tables and chat it up with those around me. I get an amazing amount of joy in using my inner tourguide skills to recommend other clubs, bands they might enjoy, restaurants and places that our own tourist board does such a shitty job of promoting. Last night I met Bryan and Joe who were kind enough to buy me a drink and share a cigar and good conversation. They were from different sides of the country in town for the same convention. Both music buffs in their own rights. Once again I got home way later than I had planned.

I have spent more time in that bar this past week than I have in the last month. I woke up this morning after one more night of smoking (cigars) too much and drinking that was on the higher end of moderation and declared that was it for the next two weeks.

Today I am tired, grumpy and bloated. It wasn't that long ago I was out doing this 4 nights a week and usually staying out much later! How did I do it? Has 2 years really made that much of a difference?

Somedays I really hate getting older.
