Work was very slow today, so during an afternoon break I took Maggie to the park for a while. There above our heads we heard this flapping, and I looked up to see a rather large "thing" flying clumsily through the trees. It looked like clumsy, overweight bird with no sense of grace. My bad... it was a huge owl! He perched on a high branch in the tree and stared at us while I stared at him. Our eyes locked. Maggie was oblivious to the magic of this event, busily scouring the landscape for squirrels. Really - the common squirrel over a wild owl. Dumb dog.

I am seriously thinking about looking for a new job. I say "job" as opposed to career, because I still plan to pursue my first love, filmmaking, as long as I can afford to. But in the Real World, there's gotta be a day job to pay the bills. And while I absolutely adore working as a pet sitter, the truth is that it's not a viable option longterm. The job doesn't have any benefits or provide any kind of longterm security. And so while it will be hard for me to leave it behind (along with all my dogs that I love so much), I think it's a wise choice.

So, what do I want to be when I grow up????

According to the many career tests I've been taking online, good choices for me are
psychologist, astronomer, musical composer (???),occupational therapist, and the ubiquitous writer, editor or director. Well THAT'S helpful....
