Should I sell my big, ugly, bulky computer monitor at my yard sale and just get a new one for my computer out in LA....or should I give up the car space and just take it with me?

Used LCD monitors are pretty cheap, pretty reliable, and take up much less space, so I'd say sell the old one if you can, junk it if you can't.

Nothing fancy, just functional....

You can get new (albeit refurbished) 15" LCD monitors for well under $200.

I bet you could find a used one at one of those office liquidation stores in LA for no more than half that.
