To all you runners...

I'm thinking of trying a new 5K running training schedule.

Any of you with running inclinations familiar with this plan?  http://www.coolrunning.com/engine/2/2_3/181.shtml

I've been trying to jog for 5 minutes at a time (then walk for five), but my endurance doesn't seem to be building at all.  Someone suggested this plan to me saying it built ( Read more... )

i HATE running and have a lot of trouble with it. that said, i run 30 mins (3 miles) 3 times a week, and just signed up for the Army 10-miler in october. when i first started, i could barely run 10 minutes. i think treadmills are hard - if you're on one, make sure it's a good one. any reason you can't run outside?

Oh, I am going to stick to running outside (and going to do some of this evening... gotta enjoy our comfortable spring weather before SC turns into a giant oven for summer). Why I threw in my treadmill hatred I don't quite know. Yesterday was the one and only time I've tried running on it.

Personally, my weight loss has slowed down so much (pathetic crawl and I've still got 20 lbs to go... at a minimum), so I'm looking for ways to kick things back in action by mixing things up. Plus, runners seem to love running so much. I kind of felt left out of the love. Haha.

A 10 miler, eh? That's impressive. Half marathon next? :)

That happens with weight loss - so frustrating, right? I was 2 lbs above my second goal (after meeting my first) at the wedding. Since then I've put on 6 and am now 3 above my ORIGINAL goal. I don't seem to be gaining more, but as soon as I reached goal and loosened up a little, I gained just enough to annoy me.

That said - the treadmill is the devil! And we'll see if I make it 10 miles before I plan anything else :)

Weight loss is a bitch for sure.

I bet you do the 10 with no trouble. We'll be reading about you running marathons before we know it. :)

I don't like running. I do it now (walk/run) with Jason cause there's not much to do here.

Back home I used to do pilates and stretching. Stretching your body is a great way to loose weight. They say is not true but I did it and it works. Do not stretch like crazy first times but do it till u fill u can handle it. Then u will see that every time is easier and you don't hurt your feet as you do while running.

I already stretch a lot (you have to when you workout all the time, right? Got to keep my muscles healthy for more actity), and I keep wanting to try pilates. I did pilates some back before my back injury a few years ago and loved it. I definitely should try to get back into it. Yoga too.
