My cat is missing
Mystery hasn't come home since night before last. I am really worried because my neighbor across the street has placed traps out to catch stray cats. He even placed them on my cousin's property!! We live in a rural area and have 3.5 acres of property. I do care for about 20 cats but most are strays or children of strays. We have sterilized about 75 percent of them including all the indoor cats.
Mystery is an indoor cat we found about two years ago. My dad fell in love with her and she became a "twin" to our hand-reared kitten Katie. She comes home every night and curls up in Mom's lap. She is fluffy and solid black except for little white hairs in her ears. Her antennae. My Martian kitty.
My cousin has moved out of state and her daughter came to check on the property and get the mail yesterday. She found the cage with a cat in it and a body that was solid black and fluffy. I looked at the ears and there were no white hairs I could see but still I worry that it was her.
Not a thing I can do about it because we don't have licenses for all the strays. ($15 per cat per year) And the best part?? He's a cop and there is a "good ole boys" network here like you wouldn't believe.
