I got the email this morning that my gold card was approved!

Actually, i only read the email after i dragged my ass out of the office around 7pm, as i plodded to the bike station to pedal home. Just to give a more realistic picture of what my work days are like.
But somewhere inside my brain there was a cheerful little pirate running around screaming.
I've been approved! My residence in Taiwan is no longer linked to my employer! I can quit! I can get another job! I can freelance! I can dick around and do nothing! (Although that latter route would mess up a transition to permanent resident in 2027.) Almost, but not quite, entirely unlike freedom!
Tomorrow i go to a hippie dippie festival featuring a much bigger dollop of world music than the previous couple of techno parties. Overnight breaks in the music too, which will be grand.
I wanted to say thanks to everyone for commenting on my last few posts when i was depressed. I didn't reply because i was depressed, but i still read the comments and they were comforting and made me feel less shitty.
Right now i am zonked. I will sleep in as long as i need and then take the slow, pootling stop train all the way down to a countryside village in Miaoli, then figure out how to make my way up the mountain without a vehicle. It will be fine.
Things are gonna be fine.
