I’m so used to trying to find the cheapest way to do things that my imagination struggles to adjust to all expenses paid. But if money is no object, I’d take the opportunity to cram in as many of my most expensive bucket list items as possible.
It would mean only a couple of full days or even just one in most places, with flights every two or three days. Though at least if I can take taxis all the way it saves me on time I’d otherwise spend waiting for public transport, and I can sightsee on the way to and from the airport.
There’s no way I’d be able to cram in everywhere left in the world that I want to go to in one month, so I decided just to focus on the Americas.
I’d start with viewing polar bears and the aurora borealis in northern Canada, followed by the White house and Smithsonian museums in Washington DC. Then I’d visit my gran and papa in the Cayman Islands, which is the one place on the list I have been to before, but it wouldn’t seem right to be in that part of the world and not visit family.
Next up comes Latin America, with Merida in Mexico, the Uyuni Salt flats in Bolivia, Rio de Janeiro in Brazil and Beunos Aires in Argentina, the latter of which is home to an old workmate and an old friend I met when I first visited Seoul.
Finally, I’d fly down to Ushuaia, where my last third of the trip would be spent on a cruise to Antarctica and back.
