I wonder what psychological bug bit me that made me always feel like i need to have as little stuff as possible. Even when i am in the same house for a year or more, my refrigerator is completely empty once or twice a week (bar condiments). It makes me anxious when there is more food in the house than i could reasonably eat. But i know some other people who are completely the opposite, who get very anxious when they don't have an abundance, it feels more secure for them to have weeks of extra food just in case.
My attitude is more in between. I figure since I'm paying for the electricity to keep my fridge running all the time, I may as well have stuff in there keeping cold. An empty fridge to me looks like wasted electricity. I'm that way with my deep freezer too.
This is a wise observation. I commented elsewhere that it's very interesting to me to see what different people put in their fridge. For instance, it seems a lot of people put apples and other fruit in their fridge, whereas it would never even occur to me to do that, because my family had fruit bowls growing up (and, of course, fruit isn't refrigerated in the store so why refrigerate it at home?) There are probably more things in my kitchen that i could put into the fridge, but i don't really think about them as fitting in there.
Freezers are a whole nother story for me, total waste of space and energy imo. I like those small European fridges that only have enough space to fit an ice cube tray on the freezer. Although, i'd be fine with no freezer at all.

I love these posts. Your refrigerator is much cleaner than mine is.
