FWIW, my company had a big scandal some years ago re: a guy who was simultaneously “workin” at another company but really spent his time golfing and going to movies. He got caught when he applied to a third company but died before he could be prosecuted. It was a huge legal mess for us.
That sounds awful! I haven't checked in with C to see how it's going over there. I hope it doesn't cause too much trouble, though by the sounds of it the boss is some kind of big cheese so the party probably would make any legal problems go away anyway.
Oh yeah, I got so wrapped up in the last part of this post, I forgot the first part about the storm not storm. It was cool to visualize what you were writing about with the weather.
The very fact of the existence of that secret communications thread is so unprofessional as to cast doubt on that nemesis, regardless of any other factors. It's like petty jr high stuff. And put your colleagues in a terrible position, on top of being outrageous in terms of your professional life.
Assholes are so hard to deal with, even when they don't have power.
Yes!! I mean, i am thoroughly entertained watching these kinds of storylines on soap operas and "reality" TV, but i find it fun to watch precisely because it's so exaggerated and contrived. I can't understand what grown adults get out of actually doing that kind of thing in real life. Don't they have any shame? Can't they step back and realize they are acting like children? It's frustrating and sad.
Good thing is that for me this story has ended. I just hope he gets exposed at some point in the future and stops the chain of cons.
