a winter wonderland

The Toronto Island is a spot i discovered soon after first moving to the city back in 2009. It's essentially just a collapsed sand bar with an airstrip, an amusement park and a couple of car-free residential communities. There are no shops or restaurants; residents need to take the ferry into the city for everything. My main experiences there have ( Read more... )

Your photos are gorgeous! I love winter vistas, and these are spectacular, especially the "Lake Spray" one. Shows how cold it is... Your selfie is great, too. You look warm, even if you might not be! Last year I did a 4 hour photo walk in freshly fallen snow, and I came back totally chilled and shivering. It was hours before I could warm up, and had to stay huddled under a blanket! I don't remember being that cold when I was walking.

Glad you're safely back to Shenzhen...

Sorry i never got around to replying to this, it has been a hectic few weeks!! I really wish i could have had a better camera on me to take these photos - even my old Windows Phone had a much better camera than my current phone. There were several spots where it would have been very dangerous to try get a close-up but a proper optical zoom would have captured some amazing views.

Funny thing, the last week or two where it has been 5-10 degrees (40-50F) in Shenzhen it has almost felt colder than it did in Toronto! Of course i'm not risking exposure here, but because there isn't any decent heating or insulation anywhere it feels more miserable because there is no respite.

Glad you enjoyed 😊 I am really happy i got the chance to see some real wintery winter stuff while i was there, even if it did chill me to the bone - i won't be seeing anything like it here in Shenzhen!
