And what is time travel? But your pathetic attempt to try to control the world around you.

Who: Tony Stark, Lex Luthor
What: We all have our time machines, don't we. Those that take us back are memories... and those that carry us forward are dreams.
Where: LexCorp.

If he had flown here in the armor in the first place, Tony thought angrily, he could have prevented everything. He could have stopped Steve, for one; he could have avoided the long, slow jet rides, the traffic jams, and the cab drivers of Metropolis, who were inexplicably bent on taking their sweet time eating their red-slick jelly donuts instead of flooring it like real cabbies should. He was perfectly aware of how many hours he'd lost, of how many Steve needed to beat him to the punch. Of realist logic trying to shut down what sliver of hope he had left -- that Steve had stayed back.

He lifted a hand to his face, again feeling the spot where Steve had knocked him flat. Gotta do something about that, he noted sourly, probing the skin. Not much use otherwise.

Within five minutes, the LexCorp building was visible over the tops of a few others; Tony didn't bother to wait until the car reached the actual entrance before he overpaid the cab driver and ran the rest of the way, breath fogging in the chill. The pulse of the arc reactor kept his core warm, even if the rest of him was freezing by the time he reached the front desk.

"I need to speak to Lex Luthor," Tony said, a dangerous undercurrent to his voice. "Right now."
