Working on #24--Dancer by Colum McCann

Mar 26, 2004 06:23

While in Washington, D.C., I went to my favorite bookstore, Kramer's Books, and picked up Dancer. This is the novelization/biography of Rudolph Nureyev. It is exceptionally well-written. Each chapter derives from the viewpoint of another whose life intersects with the dancer's life. The descriptions are really superb, starting from the descriptions of WW2 from the Soviet point of view (which is not something that I generally find compelling). Even though I am only about a quarter finished, I strongly recommend this book.
