[What, you didn't think there were female captains? Silly. She can be mean but she's generally pretty fair. Aside from that whole pillaging and capturing ships thing]
Then you must understand I cannot simply let you go. Your ship is mine, but I don't think I can trust you. [She smiles sweetly] You do understand right?
I'm afraid not. Well, I don't have to kill you. I guess you could jump off, which would...effectively kill you but without the stains on my coat. [She sighs, looking off to the side] I hate killing without need.
Either way. [She speaks with some of her crew about handling his former ship and turns back to him smiling] Such a problem.
[ always tucked shyly behind jagged rocks and under docks, she's watched hundreds of trade ships pass through dozens of ports, nondescript and unimportant; but this ship has a woman on board, and it's unique enough to catch her interest, as magpie-like as it is among her kind. she follows it carefully, trying hard not to draw attention to herself while she keeps an eye on the lady. ]
[She leans on the rails. It's that hot part of the midday when there's nothing to do, she she contents herself with staring out over the ocean. After staring out into the water for several minutes she notices the mermaid off the back of the ship]
What...[climbing over to the other side to get a better look]
[ it takes her a moment to realize she's been spotted, a little distracted with dodging the swell of waves from the ship, and when she does she lets out a startled sound and ducks to the other side of the ship with a wholly unnecessarily large splash. oh goodness she'd really only meant to watch!! who even knows these days what sailors do to mermaids!! ]
[ she clings to the barnacles underside of the ship to hide, dipping and rising in the rocking of the ocean, until she hears the lady's voice calling. at least the lady doesn't sound dangerous, and so she lets go of the ship and swims out to break the surface and cautiously show herself. ]
