All alone
Did you ever just have one of those days??? Today is not one of them. It’s my first day of work on my own. Hasn’t been too traumatizing yet. I have wasted an hour sitting and staring at my screen and some papers trying to figure out how to do something. I’m sure it’s not supposed to be very complicated, yet, I’m not grasping some major part of the project. I think I’m just going to wing it and see what happens. At least everyone knows that I’m new so that when I screw something up, they should be understanding.
At least today, I learned how to use my phone, set my voicemail, got IT to let me into my private drives and fix the links to my printer. I went all through orientation and had lunch with some nice HR people over on the US side. I didn’t know one of their names and never bothered to ask
I’m sure there is a ton of stuff for me to do but I feel a bit lost and can’t make myself figure much out today. Everything I do is so confidential that I’m not even sure what I can ask people for help on. At least my boss is out of the country.
