“Yuya! Yuya!! You open your eyes right now dammit!!”

I, I never got the chance to tell you…

“Takaki Yuya! Don’t you dare die on me!”

I never told you, how much I loved you. Did I?

“Yuya open your eyes! Please!!”

I-I’m sorry… Yuu.

“Yuyaaa!”

This is goodbye.

~X~

“Aishiteru!” a small girl with black hair called out to a boy. Takaki Yuya was getting annoyed by his neighbor who kept on following him everywhere. She kept on yelling ‘aishiteru’ no matter where they went, as long as they were together.

And it only happened as long as they were together.

“Yuu-chan!”

“Yuya and Yuu is still Yuuya!” she chirped. She liked making pairing names for them. Yuya sighed, there was no way on earth she was going to shut up. Yuu was Yuya’s neighbor. They went to the same school together even though Yuu was a bit younger than him. Yuya was always asked to babysit her on weekends when people weren’t home.

“I know that Yuu. We are Yuuya!” Yuya faked a smile; he was seriously getting pissed with this child. Yuu’s eyes widened and sparkled at his words. Silly little kid, always falling for fallacies.

“Then you love me too!” Yuu yelled out. Yuya wanted to choke and his eyes widened. Does this kid even know what on earth she is talking about? Yuya’s jaw dropped a little, what on earth did he put himself into?

“You love me?” Yuya choked out. Yuu nodded enthusiastically. Pathetic little girl.

“You can’t love me.” Yuya blurted out. “You don’t know what love is.” Yuya explained. Yuu looked confused for a second. What on earth was this idiot trying to say to her?

“B-But, I do.” She started to tear up. “I-I already told everyone we were going to get married.” Her tiny little voice started to crack. Oh crap. What did Yuya get himself into?

“A-Ah! Yuu! That’s not what I meant!” Yuya said, trying to calm down the little girl. Yuu brought her hands to her eyes and started to sob lightly.

“Yuyan doewsent wuv me!” she started to cry.

“I meant you can’t love me because, because..!!” Yuya couldn’t think of an excuse. People were already looking at them and Yuu just kept on crying.

“Why doewsent Yuyan wuv me?” she cried out loud.

“Alright I love you!” he said, just to make the little girl shut up. Yuu stopped crying and looked up at him for a moment, tears still brimming her eyes. Yuya looked down at the little girl and flushed. What on earth had he said?

“You love me too?” Yuu questioned the authenticity of his words. Yuya nodded down at the little girl.

“Yes I do.”

Yuu squealed in laughter and hugged Yuya in an instant. She snuggled into his belly (which he still had of course from being a glutton). Yuya looked down at Yuu and saw the happiness. He then questioned himself.

Was this a lie?

~X~

“Goddammit Takaki! Don’t you fucking die on me!” Yuu screamed at the door where Yuya was brought in. Along with Yuu was Yuya’s family. Yuu was soaked wet in her school uniform, sobbing her eyes out.

“You’re a fucking idiot!!” she yelled out, falling onto her knees, letting tears stream down her face. She was slowly having a hard time to breath already. Why did this have to happen to him?

She looked at the door, hoping for some good news to come out of this.

~X~

“I love you!” an older Yuya teased an older Yuu. Yuu tried to hide the blush on her cheeks but miserably failed.

“Yuya! Stop!” Yuu groaned trying to hit him with her bag. Yuya quickly dodged away.

“Yuya? Don’t you mean Yuyan?” Yuya laughed, making a reference to her childish nickname of him when they were younger. Yuu’s face turned into a different shade of red.

“Yuyan!” Yuu immediately covered her mouth when she realized what she had said. Yuya laughed hard at what was happening. He loved teasing Yuu and loved it even more when she would get all embarrassed.

“Calm down,” he tried to contain his laughter. “No one knows that but us.” He reassured her. Hell yes it was just between them. Yuu was ready to stab herself if anyone knew she was once a total fangirl of the idiot she was with.

“Better be between us.” She growled under her breath, walking a bit faster than usual to leave him behind.

“Hey Yuu.” Yuya called out to her. Yuu snapped her head back and faced him.

“What?”

“What ever happened to that sweet little girl I used to know?” he questioned. Yuu’s eyes slightly widened at the question. Was he seriously asking this? Yuu reflected about it in her mind; where was that girl he used to know long ago.

“S-She grew up.” She stuttered, trying to end the conversation. Yuya looked up at the sky, making Yuu look up as well.

“The sky was just as blue when you told me you loved me.” Yuya smiled softly, as if reminiscing somewhere deep into the past.

“I was just a kid. I didn’t know what love is.” Yuu told him, quoting the same words he said before. “You yourself said that.”

“What about now?” he came back at her.

“It’s different now.” Was all Yuu could respond before she started walking again. Yuya looked at her for a while and smiled before following her.

~X~

“What on earth were you thinking?!” Yuya yelled at Yuu, slightly beaten up himself after he had rescued Yuu from a gang. Yuu had nothing to respond and just looked down. She had a few bruises on her wrist but that was nothing compared to what Yuya had.

“You knew they were part of a gang! Why did you even agree to go out with them?” Yuya questioned. “Is it because you want to get other’s attention? Do you want your parents’ attention?”

“It’s none of your business Yuya!” Yuu yelled at him, pushing him away from her. “And thank you very much, I was going to handle that myself!” she could feel tears brimming her eyes. “You didn’t have to save me.”

“And what?” he snapped at her. “Let those boys touch you? Allow them to rape you? Not on my watch-“

“I’m not your daughter!” she interrupted him. Yuya’s eyes widened. “Nor am I your sister or your girlfriend! So just shut the hell up!” she screamed at him. Yuu covered her mouth when she realized what she had said.

“So that’s how it goes…” Yuya said, his tone cold and unmoving.

“Yuya, wait-“ Yuu tried to say, but Yuya had already walked away. What on earth was she thinking? She could’ve just thanked him then and there. Why was she such a heard head to deal with in the first place?

Yuu buried her face into her hands. Why on earth was she suddenly crying?

~X~

Yuu was on her way home, alone when it had started to rain. Yuya had gone off earlier after the fight they had. Yuu couldn’t take it off her mind or push it to the back of her head. The recent fight she had with Yuya was really bothering her.

She sighed deeply as the rain got harder. She didn't have an umbrella with her and normally it was Yuya who had one with him at all times. He was always prepared when it came to these events even though he was a really dumb-witted person.

She wanted to apologize for being such a hard head. She promised to herself that maybe she would stop being annoying around him and would just sometimes comply. Would she actually do that? The great and mighty Yuu succumbing to an idiot? This was definitely new.

But why was she doing all of this for Yuya? Why was he so special? It was only Yuya who could tell her what to do. It was only Yuya who could reprimand her for the things she had done. It was only Yuya who could come to her birthday party if she actually wanted to hold one.

Yuya, Yuya, Yuya! Everything was about him.

But why-…!

Yuu stopped in her tracks from walking, she had been wondering too much about Yuya she hadn’t realized she had walked onto the street despite the walk sign being on red. Bright lights blinded Yuu and from the turn of events, she froze then and there. Her mind spaced out and didn’t know what to do.

“Yuu!” a familiar voice yelled out. Yuu felt herself being pushed away and the next thing she could hear was a loud thump and people screaming. The sound of the skidding tires of the car breached her ears in a painful way.

She slowly sat up and looked at what had happened. Someone who knew her had just gotten hit. Yuu’s mind when blank and didn’t know what to do. She crawled a bit, slightly tearing up, hoping it wasn’t him. Anyone but him.

“Someone call an ambulance!” was the last thing she wanted to hear when she saw it was Takaki Yuya who had pushed her.

~X~

Yuu was watching Yuya from a glass screen as he was resting on the bed. He had come out alive from the emergency room except he had a bad concussion in the head and a hew broken ribs. Yuu’s eyes were red from crying and she had already caught a cold by then. But she swore she wasn’t going to leave his side as long as he was here.

It was always Yuya, and will always be Yuya; one of the persons she will always care for.

“Do you know him?” a doctor approached her. Yuu looked up to him and nodded slowly. “You may go in for a while and see him.”

“Doctor,” Yuu choked up. She didn’t want to know this but she needed to. “… h-how is he?”

The doctor fell silent for a while. And she knew this was a bad thing. He looked at the prognosis of Yuya for a while then looked at her, a dismayed face was on.

“We…” he trailed of for a second, probably thinking of the rights words to break whatever news there is. “… the concussion to his head, it’s bad.”

“I can see that. How bad is it?” Yuu asked.

“Well…” he sighed deeply. Here comes the blow. “We don’t know, when he’ll wake up.”

Yuu felt her heart shatter into a million pieces when she heard that.

What if he never wakes up?

~X~

Yuu stepped into his room and was sitting beside his bed, holding his hand. She had cried the moment she felt his hand on his. He wasn’t moving, only breathing. His eyes were closed like he was peacefully asleep without a care in the world.

“Yuya, please wake up.” She choked out. “Please…” she begged.

There was no response from the man on the hospital bed. What if he wasn’t going to wake up ever? Yuu couldn’t think of her life without him. He had been there ever since even until tonight when he pushed her out of the way of the car. But now when she was down the most, here he was in a coma.

“Yuya, if you can hear me, I’m sorry for causing you trouble all the time.” She said, tearing rolling down her face, holding his hand tightly. “I-I’ll keep holding your hand, until you wake up.” She wiped them away with the free hand she had.

“I love you Yuya,”
